I sold a couple, and bought one, and upgraded a scope felt good. Might sell another and get an optic for my new rifle.

A handgun, a rifle and a shotgun for each person in the house plus a backup of each. When my four kids visit with their spouses and four grandkids I almost have enough. I'm short on shotguns.
The American Republic will endure until the day Congress discovers that it can bribe the public with the public's money.

I agree with the guns that you're considering parting with. Getting of AK variants makes sense - heavy, nonmodular.

AR would be useful. Can have conversion kits for multiple calibers.

          How many guns you need?
At least one gun above each window & a good girl to keep reload em.

How many do I "need"? Hopefully none.
But should the "need" arise I'd like to have the best tool for the job.
So I "want" to have an assortment to choose from.

Can I stop when I run out of room for more safes? Or do I have to dig a bunker?

Time to rent a backhoe. I don't think I could ever have enough guns; I love the look, the feel, the smell; all of it. The more, the better.

Disagree. Most people with only 1 gun never shoot it, and can't shoot worth a damn. It isn't 1750.

People who shoot a lot will have a backup because guns break.

I need just a few more then I'll be good. Lever gun in .357, semi auto shotgun, maybe a .45 ruger carbine if they make one down the line, oh and maybe a 4" 686, always wanted a big bore bolt action, oh and maybe get into 1911's, maybe I'll get an xd45 if Turners has a special during black Friday, oh and......

i have been down this road also. I had 100s of C&Rs i've collected since i was 12 1967, yep i'm old. My kids also not really into guns, but my grandkids appear they are... So dont forget looking beyond your children, nephews, etc.

I'm down to 100 or so, many my dad bought for us. I have a 1967 Ruger 10/22 the second year they were produced. A 357 mag, during the dirty Harry deal.
But if i did have to go lean, I would keep a small CCW 9m and one full size, same caliber. Two shotguns, one security the other a semi-auto 12 Ga, last a 308 or 30/06 hunting rifle... Thats my 2 cents.

I only "need" one lower. But I have more than one. I do have 5 different AR calibers to mount to them.

Everyone will have different ideal for this topic.

Do what feels right to you.

I’d love to be wired in a way that would allow me to be content with “just one” but I’m not. I think if you’re member of this forum your not a one gun or even just a few gun type of person.

another way to figure this out is...have a fire.

We had a big fire here in Santa Barbara a few years ago, I was in France at the time with my wife and my daughter texted me on the phone saying "Dad, I have just been told to evacuate now, and I mean right NOW. I am taking the dogs, the suitcase from the safe, what guns do you want to save, i only have the space for a few of them"

The suitcase from the safe is a small case with important papers, they all have been scanned but I like keeping the originals, also some treasured family keepsakes. I told her to take the Colt SAA, the Ruger Old Army, a 1911 didn't care which one and the '94 Winchester takedown lever.

So think like a fire evacuation, maybe that will help you decide which guns you need. Oh, house didn't burn, we were lucky.
