There's an old saying; "be wary of the man with just one gun because he probably knows how to use it."

    Just ask Lucas Mc Cain.

just for the mental exercise, i made a list of all of the guns that i own (probably missed a few going off of memory LOL).

initially i marked a dozen of them as guns that i can / would sell, but then i went back over it and cut that down to 9. i'm sure if i stared at it long enough i'd probably talk myself out of selling anything.

pretty much decided that i couldn't part with any handguns except a couple, and for the most part limited the rifles / shotguns to C&R guns to sell, simply because i don't think i'll ever have the money for a REAL good C&R collection.

so, assuming i still feel the same way in a few days, i'll probably see about parting with my MN M44, my MN PU sniper, my swiss K31, my Yugo SKS, my M1 Garand, my marlin 62 levermatic .30 carbine, my Sig SP2009, my Ruger LC9 that i dumped a bunch of aftermarket parts from galloway precision into, and my Para LDA Carry stainless, plus all my 7.62 x 54 ammo, my 7.55 swiss ammo, and my .30 carbine ammo.

I've pared my stash down and only keep guns that I love to shoot and/or fill home defense and CCW roles. The rest get sold off, especially if I find another gun that I gotta have. For the most part, it's like musical chairs now.....new one in, an old idea out.....an occasional exception, of course.

I don't keep guns that I don't like to shoot or fondle or carry.

Keeping track of gun parts, accessories, sights, mags, receipts, and ammo inventory is hard enough.

I also am 63 years old and don't want to have to saddle my wife with dispensing of firearms when I'm gone....quality is much more satisfying over quantity.

            .

Not one more after all the gunsafes are full until you get another gunsafe. Then you fill that gunsafe and restart buying program.

Going off grid rarely means downsizing. The amount of tools that help you survive take up quite a bit of space. If you notice old homes were 500sqf but the barn/shop was 2000sqf.

So get a nice little cabin and build a big shop. Sell no guns.

Sell one/buy two helps to fill out the herd.

I've regretted selling all but two guns. If it's totally replaceable and not being used, then I'll sell.

That is for each gun owner to decide for themselves.

                              Very much so!

OP: I would keep one primary and one backup for each type of gun if indeed you feel like downsizing, i.e. two pistols, two rifles, two shotguns, etc.
