1984. Exact same here.....was in June of that year.

I look at it as a way of denying revenue to the state, something that I take great pleasure in.
As you know, some other drivers get so angry with those of us that use such caution. I just smile and wave.

That certainly seems to be true; however be careful with how you transport something not listed on your CCW permit.
One of my associates goes as far as a tiny hidden camera mounted in his trunk, with cloud storage in the unlikely event his vehicle is searched. Being that he was a Mexican police officer many years ago prior to U.S. citizenship, I can't fault him for going that route.

If more people strictly adhered to traffic laws and vehicle equipment requirements, there would be a lot less interaction with LE to begin with, hence fewer issues for those transporting firearms.

Depends on if it's the end of the month and they are short on their quota or not.
