    OK so a few.

I can name twice as many who gave up just off the top of my head. Aurora, Clackamas, Vegas, Sandy Hook. Sometimes they half heartedly exchange fire a little, like in Roseburg, but it's atypical AFAICT for one to really hole up and shoot it out like a bank robber.

The few that do that are often actually terrorists like the Pulse guy, not just random nutjobs.

Yeah, I don't go to those sort of deals but I don't worry about mass shooters. Do you? Your commute is massively more dangerous, work on eliminating that risk.
Your original argument made no mention of public policy vs. choice, nor of cost. Makes no difference in my opinion anyways. Just an argument based on statistical analysis of the chances of being a victim of a mass shooting. But, based on your response, you would rather those kids & teachers remain being unarmed victims? Perhaps using a stapler or magic marker for defense? Again, a rather short-sighted argument.

I'm no c/w fan and I hardly go to concerts these days. But, yes. Yes I do worry about being a victim. Mass shootings aren't the only threat we face. But yet here you are telling me to stop commuting to work because that is dangerous. Maybe I shouldn't bother maintaining my brakes either because statistics? Stupid argument. Just because I'm at a low risk of something happening to me doesn't mean it won't. I am alive today because I DO take precautions.

What about the requirement to disarm? California laws make it impossible for anyone to be able to defend themselves on school grounds. You would rather the schools be totally unprotected? ZERO protection. Not even a school resource officer/armed guard etc? Yeah, dumb. Jewelry stores? Yes, armed guards. Famous people? Yup, armed guards. Politicians? Yes again. Federal buildings? Ditto.

Do you have kids OP? Who is important enough to you to protect during the majority of the time that they are away from you?

Again, dumb argument...Sheesh! What is it with you?

Just because many don't shoot it out, doesn't mean they won't.

Besides, you also forget that many of these mass shooters will off themselves when they encounter any resistance. The sooner they meet resistance, the better. Even if the armed teacher, resource officer, good guy with a gun doesn't kill him, this will hasten the scumbags demise by his own hands.

          Which was exactly my point.

Just because _you_ can't understand the argument doesn't make it a bad argument. I'm just saying that huge allocation of public resources isn't required and is actually wasteful. It's a rare circumstance that's not prosecuted with any degree of motivation, typically. Simply allow citizens to carry on school grounds like they can carry other places. This would include public school employees.

Solved at probably ZERO taxpayer expense. These shooters are not generally highly trained experts for the most part and as you reiterated my argument, they generally fold like a cheap tent.

I totally understand and agree with that 100%.

However, given the current laws in place in California, there is no way they will give up their all encompassing 'no-guns' mantra. However, from where we are right at this moment, I think having someone armed on deck is a step in the right direction and is an easier sell vs. the undoing the law California just enacted. They own it. They can't go backwards on it.

Glad we sorted that out. Now you can be right, since we agree

              Carry on.
