Has anyone ever actually known someone who bought a hi point due to budget restraints?
I know far more budget minded firearm owners that spent their money on a bargain used pump action 12g.
I have friends that own them just for fun, nothing wrong with them, I've just never met anyone using a Hi Point pistol as their HD or carry weapon.Comment

I have shot Glocks before, never owned one. I own one High Point. It is the 9mm Carbine. I like it, it shoots great, that is the extent of what I know about High Point guns. Everyone jumps on the band wagon and starts talking crap about the High Point. I wonder how many of these experts have ever owned one.I pledge allegiance to the Flag of the United States of America, and to the Republic for which it stands, one Nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all.Comment

I've shot them before, almost bought one many times. There is a certain morbid curiosity for me with super cheap guns, however...I have shot Glocks before, never owned one. I own one High Point. I think to myself if I have the opportunity to go to the pistol range I have guns that I need to practice with because they are serious defensive pistols (Glock 23, Glock 43), or for funsies I have more enjoyable pistols to shoot (Model 19, Single-Six, 1911). So the Hi Point doesn't really fit anywhere in there it's not very pleasant to shoot and isn't very useful to me.Comment

Hi-Point has been very successful and have evolved to building a popular carbine on their platform. Those actually sell rather well.
What I predict is that Hi-Point will surprise all, by having been patient all these years with a single-model premise to start, earning revenue off a low price-point firearm based on an easy-to make design, and eventually come out with a gun in the next few years that is not only stellar, but surprise everyone by doing it 100% American made.
Instead of a blow-back, maybe a short recoil/breech-locking action, even HK or Glock copy but possibly with something unique not found on other guns.
They plowed into the gun market in an area that was lacking since the "Ring of Fire" options were smothered, but did so with something that has proven reliable even if made from less than best materials. They kept manufacturing costs low and didn't try to beat anyone else on cost or design.
So inevitably, after holding that line for as long as they have I could see them taking a quantum leap into something quite impressive.
I have a strong feeling that at some very soon SHOT show, they will unveil something that will be quite a surprise in both quality and craftsmanship.

All these threads about "vs. Glock" just shows that Glock is king and what all manufacturers strive to be but shall never equal.Comment

I thought they showed Glock owners need reassured about their Glock, unless OP is a Hi Point fan, but it seems to me most these thread are started by Glock fans.sigpic

I always thought the hk p2000 and hi point 9mm look a lot alike.
Sorry, too lazy to post the picsI dreamed of owning a (insert off roster gun here)...
Oh yeah....then the earth splits open with me on one side and the (off roster gun) on the other. Then appeared a large red-glowing pit with gavin newscum, diane frankenstein and governor "brown the drain" at the bottom of it, waving their pitchforks at me.

All it shows is that Glock owners have a juvenile sense of needing to be reassured of their superior (In their own little minds) choice.
Nothing more and nothing less.Comment

Spoken like a true Glock hater. I don't need any reassurance from anybody about my firearm choices, which includes Glocks and others. There is a reason damn near every manufacturer tries to make a Glock clone but no matter how hard they try, Glock remains THE measuring stick.

Bwahahaha! "Glock owners need reassurance." The whole point of having a Glock is that you dont need to be reassured. I love how Glock haters always cry about how "expensive" Glocks are. Seriously? Glocks are expensive?CRPA and NRA member.
