Go to HR and file hostile work enviroment complaint NOW. It might not keep you from getting fired but will sure be worth some bucks when your lawyer gets done with them.

Talk to your manager and report that the others were bashing one of the company's customers and that you felt that it was proper to stop it. Tell her that you are going to report that and the subsequent attacks on you to HR.

Nope, file compliant or report with HR first get it on record before someone else presents "their" view of what happened.

First. Get out a piece of paper and pencil. Write down everything that happened. Not just what was said, but what happened to cause the events to transpire. Write where it happened. Write when it happened. Keep the note pad handy at all times, even next to your bed at night. You will remember small details at the oddest times. Put those to paper.

Second. Keep it to yourself and consult a lawyer. HR is paid by your company. They are/will do whats best for the company.

2A. File initial complaint with HR with broad generalized comments. Don't post all details. Leave room for additional details etc.

Third. Review the employee handbook. Watch for arbitration rules that you may or may not have to abide by. Double check w/above attorney.

Fourth. Don't post anything else online or in email to ANYONE else. Not even to your closest friend/relative/spouse/dog/facebook etc.

Fifth. File complaint with HR.

Sixth. Look for new job as Plan B.

Thanks everyone for the advice. I think I’m just going talk to my store lead first before calling the HR. This way I’ll explain that my views are completely different and I don’t appreciate other talking smack about them. I’ve been called many things, had to put a smile and walk away just so I don’t lose my job.

I'm not sure "hostile workplace" is a reality, it's just a threat and has no weight.

If you have a strong marketable skills, start looking for work. A company change and fresh air would likely be a positive in your life.

Otherwise if you're happy where you're at, don't rock the boat and collect your paycheck. Who cares what those morons are blabbing about.

Though if you want some lulz, record them bad mouthing a customer and send that person a private email with a throwaway address.
