Sounds like the Bass Pro Shop in Manteca. The people who work the gun counter there are idiots with attitudes who actually know shockingly little about guns in general, and even less about gun laws in California. I tried to buy a gun there twice, and walked out both times in disgust. Never again.

Does anyone remember the original Turners warehouse off Reservoir off the 60? In the 80s? An industrial park complex.. no windows, no storefront.. just a back steel door. Like shopping some clandestine arms dealer. It was great.. Aks, Uzis, HKs,Colt AR15 A2s... everything.. No waits for long guns... anyone remember?

Turners customer service will never get better because their lousy service does not affect their sales.Comment

Agree; was about the say the same. A couple of my other rules:
1) Don't ask questions of Turners employee other for them to do the minimum to get what you want for you as a matter of logistics only; little more than "from the back" or "out of the counter" and "hand me a 4473"... they are relegated to point and purchase only.
2) Like above, do yourself a favor; don't discuss current legislation or any bills worming through Sacramento with them.
3) Do NOT ever back-order or put a deposit on anything from them that they don't have in stock or can't give you a serial number immediately. Ever. Did I say ever? That's ever.
4) Preferably be sure to see the actual gun you are buying before starting the DROS and don't just rely on a serial number from their inventory.
5) Whatever it is, they are bound to have it on sale at some point. Want a Ruger? Wait until the next time they have their "Ruger Days" unless it's about to fall off the Roster. Same goes for Glocks for "Glocktober", etc.
6) Avoid doing PPTs at Turners except as a last resort, like it's a Sunday and they are the only thing open.
7) When at Turner's Reseda, stop at See's Candies for the wives and sweethearts; may they never meet!

I made an on-line order with them earlier this month. Nothing special, a little over $100.00, all was supposed to be in stock. After 2 weeks the order still hadn't shipped and I needed to order some parts for another project. I sent Turner's an e-mail to cancel and why. They did cancel but without a response back to me.I'd agree with you but then we'd both be wrong...

Since most calgunners will do anything to save $5 including spending 3 hours doing paperwork at turners they will still be in business for awhile. My time is worth much more than that and I'd rather spend a few more $$ to get in and out fast. Got stuck PPTing there once and will never ever go back.
Next up, the apologist for Turners saying they're sorry and explaining why things are as they are."I do not love the bright sword for its sharpness, nor the arrow for its swiftness; I love only that which they defend.

2nd that , pretty good with questions as well. Kind of pricey but that's what happens when all you have are a few brick and mortar. I could and have purchased online for some items but i'll spend there too just to help keep them in business."Common sense is self defense"Comment

I highly recommend you do call or write corporate. Hopefully you got names from the store. Corporate is surprisingly responsive.Use GAB.COMComment

Nothing will change by coming on here and pizzin' and moaning. We can't do anything for you here. You should call the store manager and lay it all out. They won't get any better until you talk to the right people.I waited an hour to get my number called but only after I had to remind the employees three times that we have numbers.
After waiting for about a half hour a guy showed up for a pick up and before I knew it he was being served and appeared to be a friend of the guy behind the counter. That pissed me off.
Then as I was contemplating buying a gun they started the process, collecting his license, etc, to sell a gun to someone who based on their speech and body movements, appeared to be retarded. The sales guy was the same that let his buddy skip to the front.
I made a conscious decision to not buy the gun.
As I was driving home I thought about writing to their corporate office but I feel it's better sharing this with the Calguns community. I've had bad experience there before but it's getting worse.
I have 4 other FFL's that I frequent that have always been great.
I did buy a gun today, and it was at one of these other FFL's.
Good by turners!Comment
