Help me understand Glocks

I took the looooong way around to the World of Glock. I bought my 1st G19, Gen 4 on a whim, bought the second because the first was really nice.

I think the Honda comparison, is not quite accurate. Glocks are like those Athetic girls back in High School. Maybe not as great to look at, but they do everything the pretty ones do, with far less maintenance, and can be more fun to hang out with!

Thank you everyone for your posts. Right now, I have a Beretta 92A1 and like it very much. I just picked up a Browning 1911-22 for my wife that I have not shot yet. I have held about 20 guns total and overall prefer the feel of the steel frames, not sure why but they felt better in my hand. I am tempted to get a polymer frame so I can balance both styles.

because depending on what you do you can configure for any purpose. as well as there being a nearly infinite amount of aftermarket parts

Well, I only own two Glocks so, you are probably right. If you really think 7-8000 rounds is a lot or enough that you feel Glocks don't fail, good for you but, your Glock is barely broken in. Also, testing a single unit doesn't really prove anything. I probably have that many rounds trough one of my Hi Points with the only "failures" being caused by my tweeking the mag feed lips and developing a load for the gun. The same thing happens when I'm developing a reliable load for a Glock or any other gun so, it's hard to say those are really "failures". But, using your "logic" that a statistical sample of one proves or even indicates anything about "all", Hi Points are equal to Glocks, right? Actually, using your logic, since Hi Points are a simpler design than Glocks, they must be better guns, right? Actually, again using your "logic", Hi Points are a simpler design than a Glock and just as reliable (based on my sampling of a single unti) so, they must be superior to Glocks, right?

Glocks are fine if you just want “a gun”. Nothing spectacular happening there...

I think they’re overpriced for what they are...They should be a $400 gun. Guns with less parts cost less, right?

If it was me, and I was going to spend $550 on a gun, Id get a Beretta or CZ75B

Glocks are terrible guns. Cheap plastic junk. Horrible triggers. Painful grip angle and shape. Impossible to hit anything with it. Jammomatic.

Nope, I'll be the first to admit that Glocks work about as well as any other half way decent gun. However, your post and lack of real logic is a prime example of how Glock fan boys don't have any real evidence that Glocks are somehow the greatest thing since sliced bread. In fact, you obviously didn't respond to me using your "logic" to show you that Hi Points are superior to Glocks so, I'm sure you just don't want to admit that either your logic is flawed or that you agree that Hi Points are better than Glocks.

Seriously OP, there are so many threads on Glocks. This thread will not uncover anything new or profound. Everything about Glocks has already been argued to ad nauseum.

There's probably a lot in life you dont understand. Trying to figure out why some people like a certain gun should be your least concern. Who cares what other people like? Try what you want, like what you want. It literally makes no difference to any of us what your preferences are.

I'll definitely admit the CA roster has something to do with it. I like glocks. Have a few. Shoot them fine. I'd probably own less if I lived elsewhere and had more options. As it stands, glocks have done me well and a 19 leaves the house with me every morning.

I'm not really a glock fan but I appreciate the design. I think the civilian popularity is due to huge adoption by law enforcement agencies, which was during the huge paradigm shift from revolvers to automatic pistols.

quantitatively, the glock basically beats any other platform when measuring overall weight, dimensions (particularly max width), and standard mag capacity. Everything else, grip, feel, pointability, trigger pull, etc is subjective and can be dealt with in training
