    Help me understand Glocks

I am fairly new to guns and have been following this forum for a while. Overall, Glocks appear to have the biggest fan base than any other brand. Like I said, I am fairly new to the sport, but I just don't see the fascination of Glocks.

I asked one of my LGS and the gentleman said they are like Hondas (implying great, reliable, comfortable, affordable and not very exciting). So, please let me know what I have failed to understand about Glocks. I have an itch to make a purchase and would be open to purchasing a Glock.

    They just work....

But I’d still go to your LGS and hold everything to see what fits your hand best, then once you have narrowed it down to 5 Guns, squeeze the trigger and pick what you feel is the best. Don’t put brand names ahead of another. Take $800 with you and you’ll be just about safe with almost anything you pick up

Folks seem to like them. Do your research and decide.

The actual value of above $.02 is less than $.01 after taxes.

The Honda analogy isn't bad, I kind of think of them as the Toyota Camry of the gun world. They are reasonably priced (except for the off roster ones), a wide variety of models and calibers, reliable, tons of after market parts & support and easy to work on.

Minimum parts count; easy assembly and disassembly to/from those parts; factory parts are widely available and inexpensive; durable; reliable; simple and quick to fire even under stress; inexepensive; proven.

The AK-47 of handguns. Absolutely dead reliable, inexpensive and easy to customize.

Glock is not a bad choice. Personally, not for me.

Best advice is and always will be, go to a LGS with a range and rent a bunch of guns you have looked into. See what fits you best, feels good and you have the most confidence with. Then go from there.

Also, consider that most range guns aren't well taken care of. They often have many miles on them, not a lot of lube and are dirty. So if you have a problem with one, it may not necessarily be the guns fault.
