Just arrived in Vegas. Just north of the new CHP office/weigh station on the southbound side of the I-15 within sight of the NV line there is a new structure going up. It looks like the AG checkpoint just north of Barstow.

Either they are moving the Barstow AG checkpoint closer to the NV line or it is an Ammo checkpoint that is hard to get around being so close to LV.

They are moving the Yermo Ag Station to stateline. The older guys I know that still work out there in Yermo are retiring. Not will to make the drive or relocate.

Unless your car or truck is plastered with gun decals I highly doubt anyone at the AG station is going to even look at you. Many of the comments make it seem like people have never been out of state??? Google the AG station map.

Hint: Don't put ammo and guns in plain sight or under a box of donuts.

Just leave the "I'm with Her" sticker on your car and you'll be fine.

I don't think those stickers come off anyway. I needed to cover mine up with a "vote Nixon" sticker I had laying away in a drawer.

I'm curious what your feelings are about preventing plant diseases, insect pests and plagues from destroying California's multi-billion dollar agricultural industry.

Millions of jobs, a big chunk of the State Budget, a large fraction of all the food produced in the US.

Why would you not want to pause for 10 seconds to say, "I have no fruits or vegetables from outside California," and get waved through and be on your way?

Do you refuse to cooperate with others standing in line at grocery stores or movie theatre. Just step to the front of the line and demand service in front of those waiting. Maybe you walk into Jamba Juice and walk behind the counter and start making your own smoothy while ignoring the staff that works there?

Do you refuse to comply with Fascist Nazi customs that require you to use a toilet to void your bodily wastes away from your fellow citizens also?

No need to go to such lengths to be an *ssh*le to the rest of us.

Not Joe Homeowner driving his F250 (which has "commercial" plates) home with his family... commercial vehicles engaged in the business of transporting agricultural products.

If you do not stop and answer their questions, there is no reasonable suspicion, nor probable cause that you are transporting fruits or vegetables, even if you are driving some type of commercial vehicle that is obviously engaged in some unrelated business.
One would not reasonably expect to find a crate of oranges on a car hauler any more than one would reasonably expect to find a car being transported in the back of a produce truck.

They have no legal authority to stop and detain you.

Personally, I roll down all 4 windows and look them in the eye as I approach... never been stopped.

Most years, more than 20 million private vehicles and 7 million commercial vehicles were inspected at the BPS. From these vehicles, inspectors rejected over 82,000 lots of plant material (fruits, vegetables, plants, etc.) because they were in violation of California or federal plant quarantine laws.

Watercraft, self-movers, recreational vehicles and utility vehicles comprise about five percent of the vehicles that pass through the stations yearly. Commercial vehicles cover over 25 percent of the traffic. The remaining 70% are classified as passenger private vehicles that are required to be screened for routes of travel determining pest risk and level of inspection. Inspectors are busy day in and day out, filtering and inspecting these 20 million vehicles that come into the State. As a result, inspectors intercepted thousands of contraband material annually.
