I thought you either had to go featureless, have a magazine which requires separation of the upper and lower to remove, or had to register it to the state.

That's sounds right.
But the gun shop employee would be right, if the AR had a flash hider and wasn't registered as a RAW.

I've heard a ton of FUD over the last thirty-two years, and a lot of simple stupidity mixed in. Some old codger tried to tell me that the newfangled Glock brand of pistol would fail commercially, and that I would never find any spare parts for it. As they say.......

The guys at River City don't shoot the **** because they are too busy actually DOING WORK, something you rarely see at a gunshop. That place is the most well-managed gun shop I have ever been to, especially considering that they are usually slammed.
Those guys literally don't have time to spread FUD lol.

True but I don’t count those since you can’t be very safe with a fixed mag break top AR.

Who would actually want that?

Many here on Calguns have fixed mag and enjoy using them.

Do a search-you'll find plenty.

Haven't killed anyone yet with it-don't think it's unsafe.

And I don't crack it open to load-I load through ejection port with speedloader.
