That's good info right there.

As for the really inexpensive ammo cans (someone mentioned Walmart) I'd personally spend a tad more and go with authentic military surplus cans that are made in the USA with slightly thicker steel. Plus you get that groovy surplus smell.

I use USGI 30's, 50's, and "fat 50's" (actually marked for 860 rounds of linked 5.56) if / when I can find them, and a couple of larger cans. The large cans sit on the bottom of the shelf with space around them to remove the lids. Most are filled with 5.56 and 7.62 in loaded mags or on bandoliers with stripper clips.

Specifically how so?

Asian. Lighter sheet metal and gaskets imo not as good as on the real thing. "Get whatcha' pay for".

I bought 5 of those 32 round 40mm ammo cans. They are still sitting in my garage because after I filled up a fifty Caliber can with 45, the realization that I would have real trouble moving a filled 40mm can dawned on me.

Probably will use them for storage for lighter stuff than ammo.

So I would stick to fifty and thirty cans. Just my 2 cents.

I'm liking MTM's wide .30 cal cans. They're stackable, with the same horizontal dimensions as MTM's .50 cal cans, but are half the height (excluding the lid). They take up more space than the .50 cal cans, due to the dead space of the lid, but they're more stable when stacked than normal .30 cal cans, and easier to manage than .50 cal cans, due to the halved weight per full can.

It’s easy to spray paint ammo cans so they look less like ammo cans.

Paint them white, add a Red Cross onto the side and they are just a 1st aid kit

Or label them fishing lures....

The paint isn't the same quality for one. For the same price I'll make the extra effort to buy real made in the USA GI cans made, used, and sold by by our brothers and sisters. My American flag I fly was made in the USA too, I'm just funny about that kind of stuff.

I think you'll be really happy with your purchase Drew. Spray them down and wipe with WD-40 and they look great.

I use them for all kinds of stuff other than ammo and they store and stack really good. A set of snow chains for the truck with a mylar blanket and a set of mechanics gloves fit dandy.

40mm, I wish I had enough ammo to fill my 40mm ammo can. It's a big bastard I was gonna use it for an armrest/center console when I had my Bronco.
