Run and hide...don't buy large quantities of ammo online...or(just going out on a limb here)don't pay attention to dumb assesOriginally posted by .40CalSo, I came across a friend who said there's a talk at their work..."LEOs are going door to door and confiscating guns." They're also watching people who are buying large orders of ammo on internet. Advise? I wouldn't be surprised if that news was true, especially how Demorats have their panties in a knot now, after the Vegas shooting.WTB - prelock smith 44'sComment

Forster single stage and venture down the rabbit hole...Originally posted by longrange1my gun shoots better with shiny brass...plus not only does the shiny brass make me look like a pimp at the range if the sun catches it just right it blinds the guy next to me which improves my odds of winning the match.Originally posted by XDJYoFull size. Reloading for years, I use what works and provides consistency and verifiable oversight. There is nothing wrong with a single stage press.
Instant gratification and brand snobbery have no place in reloading. It is a learned skill. Best of luck to you.Just taking up space in (what is no longer) the second-worst small town in California.Comment

Check out Cabela’s website, they’ll no longer ship bullets or brass after Jan 1st, so reloading is being affected after allComment

For a single stage press I say get the Dillon 550 basic loader and upgrade it later to the 550CDo not fear the enemy, for your enemy can only take your life. It is far better that you fear the media, for they will steal your Honour

The new law forced me to start reloading. I can buy 223 as cheap as it cost me to reload it. But i will have enough brass and components to never buy 223 again. Also 30 06. the rest i will just stock up. Calibers i rarely shoot i will have 500 rounds or so for each of them.Comment

So I was able to finally test all my loads that I got running on my press and everything cycled and functioned perfectly. I'm not a bench shooter so most of this is just training ammo and I didn't have to make any adjustments because trajectory was doing anything funny.
I don't think its a problem personally for me to have started loading on a progressive. Its not for everyone. I was able to break each step down...and fully understand it and dial it in. Then add all the components in progressively and make adjustments for shell plate flex.
I have to say that the RCBS shell plate flex was unbelievable compared to the Dillon which was almost non existent. I was constantly fighting with the RCBS to get it to behave. The Dillon was an absolute dream. I will probably buy a second 650 even though changing tool heads is easy Id rather just set it and forget it.
I'll also be building my own bullet and shell feeders so that will be an exciting project since I have a bunch of motors lying around my shop. I'll post pictures of that setup and operation once I get that done.MESSAGE ME FOR ARMAGLOCK COUPON CODES!!!!

I use my Dillon on .308 and .223/5.56.
All functions are done on my 650, sizing/trimming, swaging (if needed),and loading, I still have a single stage press but have not used it in over 2 years.Comment

Anyone that starts reloading using a progressive cannot be called a "handloader"... they are a machine operator.
Start your reloading experience with a single stage press. You will always need it, especially when loading precision rifle rounds. After you learn each separate step necessary to build proper cartridges, then you can increase your unit volume with a progressive..
