For $36 a year ($3 a month) you can get onine access to the loads from Handloader magazine back issues, Speer book, Hornady book, Lyman reloading and cast lead load book, Sierra, Lee reloading manual, and many many others.

    },{,token,data,',function,beforeSend,setRequestHeader,cart_items',var,'POST'

Once there you can copy every caliber you are interested in to hardrive (HTML or JPG files) and then if you cancel you got all you need for 3 or 4 years.

There is a lot of load data on the powder manufactures website. You can key in case type, bullet weight, and powder type with a lot of results. Remember always start in the low side and work your way up.

Reloading is actually a lot of fun and very therapeutic, but can turn into a nightmare fast.

Running the progressive press' can be a bit daunting when you are first starting out. If it's not running smooth something is wrong or misadjusted, it should never bind. Lube is your friend LOL. I would recommend going through each phase by itself so you can better diag any malfunctions. You will know what a primer not seating correctly, or bullet catching and crunching a neck feels like (more common with flat base bullets), a decapping pin breaking, or a case getting hung up while resizing/depriming. You will know where your machine is hanging up basically without troubleshooting. Certain case mfg's will also affect how well your dies process the brass. Depriming anything with a crimped pocket will take a little extra force. Anytime I process crimped primer pockets I will just run through and decap everything then do everything else.

Once you get all of those steps mastered you will have to put them all together and form a little rhythm. Can't tell you how many times I forgot to push forward on the handle and had powder spilling out of a random case lol.

If you want to load for accuracy for the rifle then single stage is the way to go. This is due to the shell plate on a progressive flexing during the resizing and seating ops. Remember consistency = accuracy. Anything you can do in your prep will go along way in that department. Flash hole deburring, and case trim length. The actual trim length isn't as important as per say all of the cases being exactly the same length. This is because of the slight crimp on the end of the case. Once you set your dies they are going to crimp the case in the same spot no matter how long or short your case overall length is; resulting in inconsistent crimping of the bullet. All of these little things affect potential accuracy of the round.

Hope this helps and is just my .02

The net is loaded with data, some good some not so good. Check multiple sites and go with averages. Better late then never, who knows what chaos once everyone realizes they are going to be in another database to track your stuff.

Sierra reloading bible, a single stage press for your necked cartridges and a Dillon for your pistols.

My plan for this beast is plinking ammo in huge volumes. I'm not spending a lot of time on anything other than replenishing what I shoot during the week. My SHTF stash is probably around 15,000 rounds each of .223 and 9mm so that stuff doesn't get touched until the zombies are knocking at my door.

I will probably make my own case feeder system because I'm too cheap to spend the 250.00 and have tons of parts and things lying around my shop so I can easily do it. then once i move to wyoming one of you here on calguns will be the proud owner of my 650.

Get the Lyman 50th Edition loading manual. It has lots of great info plus the best loading data for lead bullets.

Thanks for sharing, a friend and I were planning on splitting the cost of one but now we could probably each get our own lol.

I would not recommend starting out with a multi-stage press. Maybe if only loading pistol rounds and always using the same powder. I've see a lot of squibs made by new loaders using multi-stage so if you go that way then don't ever double tap.

Even after years of experience reloading with a single stage is still a must for high grade match quality.

Those new to handloading will learn what a huge difference it makes in group size it makes when the load is tuned to the rifle. I always load rifles for accuracy, pistols for consistency

Now I have to get into shotshells. I just picked up 20 Bismith 20g from Cabelas a couple of days ago for $32.00. My Spanish SxS and my son's '29 LC can't shoot steel. Half the fun of hunting is using the firearm you want.

This is true. Often close to the cost of components.

Way back when I never reloaded .308 because I couldn't buy components for the cost of the worldwide milsurp available. I had accumulated literally a lifetime supply. Then some scumbag thieves stole most of it.

Agree. You'll always be able to use the single stage, even if you get a progressive later. You also get to learn each step in depth.

So, I came across a friend who said there's a talk at their work..."LEOs are going door to door and confiscating guns." They're also watching people who are buying large orders of ammo on internet. Advise? I wouldn't be surprised if that news was true, especially how Demorats have their panties in a knot now, after the Vegas shooting.
