Doesn't Los Angeles have silly laws concerning Pepper Spray and knife size?
Living outside L.A. county kept me from getting a Pepper Spray permit and the regs on Knife size, wear are problematic. Good old 1911 with CCW!

      That would be CA legal.

However, outside of the vehicle, you would legally need to be traveling directly to and from locations where it is legal to possess the firearm.
^ Vehicle to residence and residence to vehicle, would be legal.

        AFAIK...

Los Angeles has an ordinance that makes it illegal to open carry a knife with a blade length of 3" or more.

As a tangent...all my cars have large LED 6-8 cell Maglights. They are "only" used for lighting purposes. I would never use one to smack someone over the head with.

Carry a rod and you're good to go! People may look at you funny but they won't mess with because they will think you're a nutcase.

California Penal Code, Section 12025, prohibits carrying concealed firearms in California, but Section 12027 provides the following exemption to this prohibition: "Licensed hunters or fishermen carrying pistols, revolvers or other firearms capable of being concealed upon the person while engaged in hunting or fishing, or transporting those firearms unloaded when going to or returning from the hunting or fishing expedition.

Perfectly legal except in the post office parking lot.

This. San Bernardino, Orange, Riverside, and Ventura are all very close, and your line of work would certainly qualify for any of those counties.

I would very strongly discourage you from carrying a concealed weapon in California without a valid CCW permit. While some may feel the risk is worth the reward, I strongly disagree. If you get caught with a concealed gun without the appropriate permit, you will suffer considerable legal consequences.

Are you prepared to lose your right to own a firearm? While losing the right to own a gun may not happen, it is well within the realm of possibility. Just not worth it, the cost, both monetary and mental will be high. I have read all of the tried by 12 vs carried by 6 type of comments, and just shake my head. If you have never been involved in the criminal justice system, trust me it is to be avoided at all costs.

Carrying a firearm without a CCW because of bad areas? Isn't that the "Homie" defense every Dindu uses?

"Iz only hadz a gun cuz der be badz peeps out der".

If you fear for your safety then apply for a CCW. Don't be a criminal and lose your rights.

You are a responsible gun owner, but don't have CCW, carry anyways for self preservation?

Its against the law but it can ultimately save your life. Not sure what to do.
I will say ask the residents of Chicago. A lot of them conceal carry illegally and their reasoning is interesting. Plus we have over 100,000 approved CCW holders in the city of Chicago currently.

Residents of Chicago have stated they would rather be arrested by police for carrying illegally than be in a situation of life or death and not be able to do anything or protect their families. They are willing to pay the fine, do a little jail time etc. But they are alive. That's huge.

We are seeing more and more of it in Chicago. It doesn't make it right by the letter of the law but these folks are applying their "common sense" approach to the situation.

Look bottom line is criminals and thugs always conceal carry illegally. They have done it for decades in the state of California and other states and it will continue. Count on it.

Do what you feel is right and be willing to pay the consequences if you're caught. Obviously it's a no brainer for some law abiding citizens in the city of Chicago and we continue to see more and more CCW permits approved in Chicago.

I have lived in states and open carried and conceal carried. It's really sad that a lot of counties in California won't let you conceal carry. Most citizens in California should be able to carry IMO. And we don't need a laundry list of qualifications either. Some states you don't need a permit to conceal carry or open carry. Maine is one of them.

I support it, but why in God's name would you make a thread on an online message board about it.

My dad was a California State Appeals court judge. He could not get a CCW here in San Diego County. Rest assured he carried that 1911 in his car everywhere he went.
