No, there's no way I call that moot. It was veiled threats and arrogance. If they were simply inquiring about some technicality they can just ask directly. But they decided to burn the users real name here (that would actually be a privacy issue IMO) and forward unnecessary detailed info in their inquiry to big bro.

I don't have a problem if people are OK with it but I wouldn't sugar coat it into some innocent semantics either. That whole thing was garbage, from the initial issue to their follow ups here.

That's so lame, why not just have a conversation with them and ask why?

Maybe some snowflake stuck it there and they're not even aware.

Check it out, it's hilarious. There's one obvious coach, but besides him and the guy @ 4:10 it looks like none of them have ever touched a gun before. Then they walk into the sunset, back to their climate-changing SUVs, leaving all the junk at the shooting site, unlike most right-wing Earth-hating shooters.

First GFOS is already on my 'will not shop there' list, the one here in Vacaville soured me years ago, and I'll never go back.

Now That was a hilarious video, a bunch of fattie dudes and ugly chicks in skinny jeans, all dressed up in their tactical gear... Hehehe

still though is anyone else alarmed that they are arming themselves? I really hope that this doesn't escalate into people getting hurt..
But I don't come 'round here to meet nice people anyway

People are already getting hurt from these clowns, but I'm not remotely concerned they are arming themselves. It will only speed the end of their presence on this planet.

If you have nothing illegal then you have no problem letting the DOJ inspect your firearms right? With that attitude it's coming.

Part of their ridiculous ineptitude I chuckled at was them shooting rifles at about ten feet. There's an old saying: "Distance favors the trained man"; with 99% of these clowns I'd bet you'd win a shootout using a Glock 26 across a typical city street.

I don't have anything illegal, and while I wouldn't invite them over for tea, I'm sure if the DOJ were to inspect my firearms they wouldn't find anything illegal. You seem to be implying that you do possess illegal firearms, which I'm sure has been duly noted by TPTB, who no doubt already have all your info of the type that GFOS forwarded for that other fella.

I'm not defending GFOS, and I'm not in favor of tossing the 4th Amendment because of the ol' "If you're not doing anything illegal, then you shouldn't mind us looking around, right?" routine. I'm saying what GFOS did was the equivalent of sending somebody's publicly accessible info along with a note asking if it's legal for them to come to a complete stop at a stop sign.

And no, I'm not going to spend another dime in that place, even if they do allow double-taps on their range.

And no, I don't call the police on anybody that's not doing anything illegal, because it wouldn't matter, good or bad. That's the issue.

The quoted post shows GFOS asking the DOJ for a clarification, rather than reporting a non-crime. The fact that they included the customer's info is moot, unless you were under the impression that the DOJ was unable to access that info otherwise.
There's an old joke about the phrase "I'm from the government, and I'm here to help".

Anyhow, perhaps you can explain to me why, if GFOS merely wanted a clarification on a point of law, forwarding the customer's information to DOJ was necessary. Sharing customers' personal information with anybody without their consent is a horrendous and deeply unethical business practice. And no, it doesn't matter that "everybody does it" these days. I go out of my way, and often spend extra money, to avoid doing business with people who do that kind of thing.

That's a good step, but it's still "too little, too late" to get my business back anytime soon. I'm basing this on what appears to me to be a long history of this place making bad decisions, with the DOJ thing being a big deciding factor too. Under new management that seems to have more of a clue, maybe. Anyhow, that seems to have brought the topic to a close.
