I will never part with my Benelli m4. It is a killing machine of unholy, soul-stealing death. I love it so!

    Mods to get:
Mesa Tactical Stock with limbsaver & cheek riser
(Keep original Benelli pistol grip on it)
    Carrier Comp Extended titanium tube
(With spring & follower for 922r compliance)
Surefire fore-end of you can find one.

      Dis guy! Get the M4!
The liberal see's the glass as half full and tries to take more.
The conservative see's glass as half empty and tries to keep it that way.
I'm with the people on the side just pouring water in the glass trying to get a drink!

Between the two, get the Scar. Is there anything the Benelli M4 can do that a remington 870 can't aside from being a semi auto? Both of them are expensive range toys, but which one is more effective over a range of events?

Remington 870s have been in service since 1950. Benelli M4 since 1999. Both will break at some point. Police Departments, U.S. Military, and other LE organizations across the world didn't choose 870s because of their good looks.

I prefer to reach out and touch someone at 300+ yards.

The M4 is my favorite shotgun too (I have about 36 pump and semi-auto shotguns, including two M4s). But one's favorite gun is a highly personal thing. I prefer gas operation in a semi-auto and I like the M4's weight. I also think it looks sexy. Beyond that, who knows why I like it? It's a personal thing.

People ask me all the time what my favorite shotgun is and should they buy one. It's hard to recommend the M4 because it's so expensive, especially when you can buy a Mossberg 930 for under $500 (at least here in Reno).

The M4 is supposed to be indestructible. I have broken pistons twice during training classes and in a third class my M4 stopped running unless it was completely slathered in oil. However, if you take enough classes you learn that all equipment breaks. There is no brand, model or platform that never breaks.

The 870 is my favorite pump, especially the Police model.

No they choose them cause they are cheaply priced but they broke down like old fords and often. They are good for a home defense but they cant hold it down for a good long work time like the m4. Its a reason the military went with a more expensive choice.

LOL. No. With a SCAR. My first comment pick is a SCAR. Being that 870s are cheap, you can have both.

Drawbacks to the M4, optional barrel availability and weight.
Benelli's patent expired and the Versamax is a good copy. The Remington is lighter and has more options available. They both work well, the M4 just feels like you have a loaded down truck instead of a empty one in comparison.
