Only owning two guns

I couldn't even cut it down to only 2 on my CCW. Happy it's up to 5 now

There are just too many cool guns out there. Hell, I have around 50 and don't even own a Glock yet.

I am blessed enough to be able to have what are basically duplicate rifles and sidearms. In terms of day to day protection and semi routine range trips and classes, it's a luxury and not a necessity.

I will say though, that if you plan on taking shooting classes it is prudent to bring a spare pistol or long gun. Also depending on your body type, your light-equipped "house gun" may not work for CCW. Just some examples of what may "necessitate" more than one or two guns.

Have you ever wanted to just sell off all your guns but one hand gun and one long gun? Just train with those two and become an expert with it? I have this issue regularly but I just cant do it. I had a lot but sold most and have about 8 guns in total now. I might sell them all and just keep two. Anyone else have this issue?

I feel the same way that you do. Over the years I have obtained a well-rounded arsenal. Sometimes I want to get rid of almost all of them and just focus on a select few. But then the problem starts: each gun has a purpose. I like subcompacts, compacts and some full size guns. I also like 9mm, .40, .45, .38, .357, plus others.

Sometimes I like semiautos, but I also love revolvers. I could probably deal with having one shotgun: Mossberg 500. It's nice to have a rim fire .22 pistol/rifle also. I have a mini 14 that covers my interest in a semiauto rifle, but then lever gun cravings come. Haven't got into bolt guns yet.

What I did a while back was sell all the guns I really didn't care about. I minimized it to just a couple of my favorites in each category. I didn't miss the ones I sold. I was content with my minimized arsenal.

After a while, I figured "what the heck, I haven't bought any guns in a long time." I found about 4 guns I have always liked and wanted, so I splurged. In hindsight, I haven't really used most of the 4 I bought. Might end up selling them because I prefer my select favorites in each category. If I do, I won't miss them.

I couldn't ever have only two guns unless I was forced to. Otherwise, I prefer having a couple in each category that get used regularly when the urge hits for that category. I have no desire to have tons of guns that just take up space and never get used. But if I only had a semiauto, I would really miss having a revolver. There are also a few different revolvers and semiautos that I really can't choose between and would really miss them if I got rid of one or the other. There are too many different offerings of guns nowadays to only have two though, unless you don't care to shoot much.

I would choose your favorites and separate them from the rest for a while. If you don't miss the others, then sell them and use the money to benefit your favorites, or just keep the money in a gun fund, so if you get the desire for a different gun, the money is already there for it.

But I do, did, have more reloading items than they do, and I dare say I do, did, more shooting and especially more traveling to a shooting location than they do...I mean, did.

I had one pistol for close to 15 years. Then I bought two rifles together, so I never only had two guns. Numbers 4, 5, 6, and 7 followed shortly after.

Yeah all my guns a current have fit a purpose and I love the look. I still need a shotgun and a CCW type handgun. So im never really only going to have two guns.

For hunting it's nice to have a little variety. You don't need an elephant gun to shoot deer. (Unless that's what you want to use). And a 22-250 might be a little light for buffalo... Lol.
It's nice to be able to pick thru your stash for just the right one. And when I go hunting, I always take two rifles. I so hate it when one breaks down for whatever reason.

You make fine points. I'm so glad I made this thread. Learning a lot here even though I been in the game for years.

I also don't expect to snipe people exceptin' the rare case of invasion or if our government falls. Not likely. My .223 bolt action, yeah, dreams of shooting coyotes, I don't see myself getting out of my chair. So, yeah.

Most of my guns have a hunting application to them. Since I hunt non-game animals like ground squirrels to bear, I have purpose bought rifles, shotguns, and revolvers depending upon what it is I hunt. Just shooting ground squirrels alone I have 5 different types of rifles. A 22 LP bolt when i need to use subsonics on my granduncle's duck ranch, to 22-250 when i shoot on my friend's cattle ranch up in Modoc, to ar15 when the shooting is hot and heavy.

Same with upland game birds which I use my 12 gauge O/U to a semi auto when i am shooting ducks. I don't all the various different shotguns and rifles and can do ok with just one of each and still be happy with the results. But if I can afford to buy what I need to be at my most comfortable doing what it is I do then why limit it to just 2?

That's what cars and pickups is for. Drive around shoot coyotes, rabbits, rockchucks, squirrels.... Is a very enjoyable past time for lots of us
