    Only owning two guns

"Beware the man who only has one gun. He probably knows how to use it!"

Have you ever wanted to just sell off all your guns but one hand gun and one long gun? Just train with those two and become an expert with it? I have this issue regularly but I just cant do it. I had a lot but sold most and have about 8 guns in total now. I might sell them all and just keep two. Anyone else have this issue?

      I have only a glock 19 and a PSA AR15.
I feel pretty secure in that right now, although I would like to add an 870 to the mix.

I like the different challenges that come with being proficient with different types of firearms. So I like having more than one and one type of gun. I'm thinking about getting a 20 gauge or 410 for some easy shotgun shooting. Maybe something I could get my daughter onto for some clay shooting if she wanted. Do I need another Shotgun, not really my mossy 500 works for just about any situation I need it for. But it doesn't fit all of them. So do I need 3 handguns, not really but again my 22 doesnt really fit what I need for home defense, or the requirements for some types of competitve shooting.
SO yes I would like to be an expert on one or 2 guns, but what are you going to do after you've mastered those weapons? The way I see it I will be probably never master these weapons before I pass away, proficient yes, expert probably not.

        Thats my view, YMMV

I had only 2 firearms once.............I was in grade school.
I am very good with a number of the ones I now own. I have more than one model/brand that is set up the same except in different chambering. That often helps.

Currently only have my AR I built/assembled and my Glock 22. Would like a 9mm as well as a long range marksman AR10 style build and a 12g. As far as pistols go though I will probably only carry a striker polygun as its what I'm most proficient with. Even with carrying and training with others I'm as good of a shot with my striker as I am with a sao but a little quicker.

No, pure and simple. If I had other hobbies I wanted to pursue, needed the money to live on or was going broke, maybe. I might suggest though, not only become proficient in using the two, but repair and upkeep that comes with it. Keep spare parts and lots of ammo. Someone asked me last night how much my collection is worth. I said, including accessories and ammo.........none of your business, lol.

i'd throw a knife into that mix

funny thing, i don't have a very big collection of firearms, but, most of them turned into fairly well sought after guns

if i ever did decide to lighten my load i really wouldn't even know which one to keep versus get rid of

meh, i'll keep all of them

with the advent of modifications to guns, i feel that this adage doesn't hold true anymore.

i mean unless the gun you own is that vastly different from each other, the basic shooting principles apply across all of them.

i think the real purpose of the quote is really about practicing with your guns so much that all movements are second nature, and all quirks of the gun would be known.
