...and after you write your paper, let us proof-read it for you.

For example, instead of writing "What to write on my paper?", you should have written, "What to write my paper on?", or better yet, "What topic should I write my history paper on?"

If it's good enough to get into Stanford...

High school senior Ziad Ahmed wrote “#BlackLivesMatter” 100 times as his answer to a question on his application to Stanford University — and has been admitted to the school.
Oppressors can tyrannize only when they achieve a standing army, an enslaved press, and a disarmed populace. -- James Madison

This format didn't copy/paste correctly from Google Drive, but here it is. It is not a traditional essay, I was instructed to research two scholarly articles and answer my teacher's questions about the articles that I chose. Whipped this up in about an hour.

          Research Paper
List the full bibliographic information about the article using MLA format
Author: Freedberg Jr., Sydney J. Title: The M-16 Soldiers On. Source: National Journal. 5/6/2006, Vol. 38 Issue 18, p57-58.

Author: Lombardo, Robert M. Title: Hoosier Public Enemy, A Life of John Dillinger. Source: Indiana Magazine of History. Sep2015, Vol. 111 Issue 3, p323-324.
          2. How do you know this article is a scholarly journal?
It is listed on the EBSCO database, with the bibliographic information to match. These are reputable sources that have been in circulation for over 10 years.
          3. What are the author’s credentials?
“Since 2004 he has conducted in-depth interviews with more than 200 veterans of Afghanistan and Iraq about their experiences, insights, and lessons-learned, writing stories that won awards from the association of Military Reporters & Editors in 2008 and 2009, as well as an honorable mention in 2010.” (Freedberg)

Dr. Robert M. Lombardo, a sociologist, is an Associate Professor of Criminology and Criminal Justice and a member of the Graduate Faculty at Loyola University, Chicago. Dr. (Lombardo)
          4. Why did you choose this topic to research? How does this topic relate to specific details from our class readings, lectures or discussions?
I chose this topic because I have been interested in cartridge development as well as military tribulations in the wars of time. This topic relates to the subjects being that the class has shown me different topics I was not familiar with prior. The topic of Vietnam soldiers complaining about their ordnance and loadouts is one I was not aware of prior to this research assignment.

I chose this topic because John Dillinger is a historical icon and his significance is constantly being argued even after his death approximately 90 years ago.

          5. Which online databases did you use to find this article? Which keywords did you use? Why did you choose these particular articles?
I used EBSCO to find an article for this topic. My specific keywords for this article were “m16 vietnam.” I chose this article because it was the only one I could find that directly to related to the 5.56mm NATO cartridge developed in Vietnam.

I used EBSCO to find an article for this topic. My specific keywords for this article were “john dillinger.” I chose this article because it was one of the few EBSCO provided that talked about John Dillinger.

          6. What are the specific topics, as well as the general subject matter, of the article? What time period in American history is the article about?
The specific topic of this article is on US soldiers deployed in Vietnam complaining about the insubordinance of their rifle platform compared to that of the enemy, the Vietcong. The general subject matter in this article is blaming the US government for spending massive amounts of money on heavy weaponry, bombs and transportation but neglecting to replace an aging cartridge that has been in service for over 40 years (at the time). The time period this article is about is in the 1970s during the Vietnam War.

The subject matter of this article is a review on a biographical book written on an infamous 20th century bankrobber named John Dillinger. The specific topics discussed in this article are how the time Dillinger was born in shaped the person he became, a brief description of the topics discussed in the book itself, as well as how he became a household name in a short amount of time.
          7. What is the author’s argument or thesis about the topic? State/quote the thesis and explain it in your own words.
The thesis being argued in this article states that the United States government is using a decades-old cartridge that is becoming outdated as compared to the one that the enemy is using. The article states that soldiers are complaining of the lethality of the cartridge given to them and blames the US government for spending their budget on large ordnance items like bombs and transportation but neglecting to upgrade the standard cartridge in infantry loadout, instead focusing on reducing weight in the rifle platform and making upgrades to accessories on things like sights. “But since the 1960s, an intractable and emotional argument has raged over the rifle's relatively small-caliber bullet: just 5.56 millimeters in diameter, compared with the 7.62 standard of its predecessor, the M-14, and the world's most common rifle, the Russian AK-47.” (Freedberg)

The author’s thesis is his experience and review of a biographical book written on John Dillinger. “I found Hoosier Public Enemy to be a fun and informative read. It reads like a novel and provides a lot of historical information.” (Lombardo) Lombardo believes the book to be a genuinely educational media while remaining fun and engaging at the same time.
          8. What types of evidence does the author use to support his argument? Which examples of evidence of sources used did you find most persuasive, and why? Provide examples of sources and use of evidence from the articles to support your thesis.
Freedberg uses primary sources, accounts from people that were present at the subject of debate. A source I found most persuasive was from a retired Marine general that said “In every war we've fought using this thing, we've had people complain about the lethality.” (Milavic) Examples of sources used in the article include retired servicemen, Lt. Col.’s and product managers among others.

Lombardo uses his own experience and education from the book itself as a primary source. I found his testimony to be the most persuasive not only because it was the only evidence given, but because his testimony gives an adequate, colorful and descriptive review of the book and its contents. “Whatever your view of Dillinger, his exploits and those of other Depression-era gangsters have had a profound influence on American law enforcement.” (Lombardo)
          9. What is the author’s purpose in writing this article?
The author’s purpose in writing this article, I believe, was to not let neglected voices of Vietnam go unheard. Soldiers at the time were complaining of loadout shortcomings and I think Freedberg was very sympathetic towards servicemen, which he should be.

The author’s purpose in writing this article was to have it included in a History of Indiana magazine, and to revive the infamous John Dillinger theories, arguments and pulse in pop culture.
          10. Who is the author’s intended audience?
I believe the author's intended audience to be employees of both government and firearms industry.

This author’s intended audience was Indiana locals familiar with the John Dillinger story.

That will be most interesting, considering the language constables are abounds. Slang for "There are needed changes to your atrocious sentence structure."

Not criticizing what you have so far, I skimmed it and it seems to be fine.

What really popped in my head was "is this where academia is now? We're writing about what other people have written about some event instead of doing the research and coming to our own conclusions?"

Seriously OP, find a safe libtard topic, sprinkle in 2 dozen "because black lives matter" statements to dazzle and distract your social justice warrior prof, and get the heck out of there as fast as you can.
