For all newbies like me. It is dark in my safe so I google and youtube around to find the easiest and simplest thing to do to "shed some light" in my safe and this is what I end up with. The project isn't completed but it is functional.
Parts:
1. LED: LEDMO 5630 300pcs Waterproof IP65 5m Daylight It is brighter than the 5550 and 3528 and It is daylight which is on the brighter end of the spectrum.
2. CONNECTOR: LED Strip Connectors
3. T CONNECTOR: LightingWill T Shape Solderless Snap Down 2 Conductors LED Strip Connector for Quick Splitter Connection of 10mm Wide 5050 5630 Single Color Flex LED Strips
4. MOTION SENSOR: Kang Automatic Mini DC 5V-24V PIR Body Infrared Motion Sensor Switch 5A
5. POWER SUPPLY: Power Supply
Installations:
The LED is water proof and has water proof gel coat which doesn't fit the connector that I bought. I found this out after the fact that I should have gotten the water proof connector type. I had to use xacto blade to slice the coating off to fit the already bought connector. I also end up cutting wires off of old PC fan and switch connectors and solder the wire onto the connectors myself instead of buying new wires or buy this already made connectors to save a few bucks. It is necessary because the T connectors do not work well when you have to bend the LED. The connection becomes unstable. I also save on the soldering iron that I have since my college year. The power supply gets really warm and I wonder if it will get any hotter and cause any problem. Additional testing will tell.
The LED strip is pin to the firewall with thumb pins to make it easily replaceable instead of using more appropriate fastener but I used this thumb pin technique to hold up cables on dry wall in the apartments to reduce visible damage. It isn't pretty but it works well enough.
The motion sensor helps turn the LED on automatically but this model is suppose to continuously detect the motion and turn off after 5 seconds of inactivities. In practice, depending on where you place it, I placed it lower where it can't see my arms movement so it kept turning off. I order motion sensor with timer to see if it will work better or not.
The over preparation and installation took about 4 to 6 hours since I work slow. My safe doesn't come with a power but there is a small holes in the back that you can use any drill bit to go thru the internal firewall. An old PC power cord can be recycle for this purpose quite easy.
I hope my experience give a quick guide onto how to quickly go about lighting up your safe.

. I just got some led pucks lights (wireless with remote/$15) from costco. Seems to do the job.....
