NBC Evening news just had a hit piece on 80% receivers. Looks like it's on the national gun control radar now. Chuck Schumer is leading the charge.

Meh, it would be impossible even if he was in the majority.

With 80%s, he is really being desperate since there is no meaningful way to regulate "blocks of metal." He would likely have to try to force serialization of all internal parts, uppers, barrels, triggers, etc., which would be much more difficult to pass than any new national AWB. Even CA cannot do it, so this is just a wet dream.

The practical reason to talk about it now is likely to try to fire up the base with a cause he believes is universally supported by his side. The anti-gun groups are pushing narratives that gun control is a winning issue in spite of what happened last election. I say to Schumer: "Go ahead, attack 80% AND assault weapons. The louder, the better."
