    PPT refusals

I have been seeing a lot of threads about illegal overcharging on PPT fees but not as many on refusals. However in my travels I have been seeing a fair amount of that as well. I'm curious to what you all have been seeing or have been told.

This was common last month during the rush and panic to buy AR's and such but is still going on. Some stores even have the nerve to put up signs with illegal policies. Two come to mind recently.

Gun World in Burbank has a sign on door that says no PPT on weekends because they are too busy. The Gun Range in Lancaster had an unusual sign stating no PPT during gun show weekends.

Manager working the show may be the only person listed on the FFL.

Thankfully the ~8 or so Sacramento gun shops I've done PPTs as buyer and/or seller have not screwed me, but I am thankful for the Calgunners who call out FFLs with disreputable business practices.

I don't believe they set up at the show. Also how would they sell their own stock of guns then?

          True.
I haven't been there so I wasn't sure if they were just a range or a full service shop.

Many shops do have a policy that the manager must review all transactions, but more likely they don't want to deal with people who would rather PPT locally rather than through the show's designated FFL?

Doesn't make it right... and aside from "Our safe is full" not sure about the legality.

Make paper copies of the PC and carry with you. When you encounter an illegal policy sign in a shop. Tape the actual PC over it with the number of DOJ-BOF on it.

I will also give you your own advice back.

Picket the stores that have illegal policies.

I personally do not inform to law enforcement. I just vote with my wallet. If others choose to do so that is their choice.

If that is the case, would it also be true they would not be able to sell guns and start a DROS without that person on site.

Spencer's in Madera, Target Masters in Milpitas, Reed's in Santa Clara are all terrible shops to attempt ppt's at. Avoid at all costs!

PPT refusals or overcharging or both? Or just pouting and scowls?

I know that Reeds charges $100 storage fee if you don't pick up on the 10th day for PPT.

The gun stores know that the DOJ doesn't care and doesn't really punish them, so they continue to do it. The number and frequency of threads about illegal PPT policies is a pretty good indication that this is true.

Spencer's in Madera has a horrible attitude and they refuse ppt's.
Target Masters will make you wait as long as possible in hopes that you will leave.
Reed's is similar to Target Masters and they charge their famous storage fee's.

Reed's and Target Masters definetly didn't pout or scowl. They do it with smile you can tell it makes them happy. Spencer's is a whole different type of angry he damn near cries liberal tears.

I tell everyone I know to avoid Spencer's.
