That makes a lot more sense, and it's right next to Elsinore. Steele Peak is quite a bit away. Plus, there's signs on all the trails that say no shooting, no trespassing, private property etc. You'll see a bunch of them by the power line roads between Nichols and SP.

OK got confirmation that Steel Peak is still open.
The knuckle heads who shoots at the main entrance/parking is no shooting.
Sheriff's are down there citing people who are shooting @ the main entrance. They ask all shooters to pick up after themselves

Update us on your experience. I was told that after the Sheriffs cleared everyone out people trickled back in then the Sheriffs came and cited the people shooting at the front opening.

Unfortunately the above statement is correct. I was out there this morning around 10:30 and the Riverside SO was clearing everybody out. They drove in as far as they could in their Ford Explorer (due to the poor road conditions) and then walked to each shooting area on foot to contact people. The deputy stated they would start citing people tomorrow for shooting in the area.

A nice result from the inconsiderate, selfish, sociopath, lunatic fringe of our shooting community. I don't blame the BLM at all for closing constantly polluted shooting areas. What else can they do? If our community is too lame and selfish to clean up it's own messes, guess what? No more public shooting areas.

Since this is BLM land how does the Sheriff have jurisdiction to tell people to leave? Shouldnt it be the BLM Rangers out there telling us to leave?

SP is in tbe western zone per Riv. Co. Ord. 514. No shooting there.
