    Delay in firearm purchase

    Hello,

I am new to the forum so let me apologize in advance if I posted this in the wrong place.

    Here's my situation-

I purchased a glok 19 in 2014-no problems-bought shotgun in February waited my ten days and went to pick up-no problems.

I sold my glok back in 2015 and bought it back 10-26-16 and on 10-27-16 my dealer received a delay letter which I didn't know about until 11-7-16 when I went to pick up my glok.

I don't have a record, last ticket was 5 years ago and never been involved in any legal matters.

I'm dumbfounded. I do have an extremely common first name....but like I said this wasn't an issue the first two transactions.

I'm very disappointed because you can not speak to anyone at DOJ and need guidance on what to do next.
My address was changed at DMV but not on my Id but it was the like this when I bought my shotgun.

    Your help is appreciated.

Find out if your dealer releases on 'undetermined' status after 30 days. And all you can do is wait.

I will. This is just annoying since I don't even have a ticket on my driving record.
      Any other advice?

You can't do anything until they deny you or 30 days pass. Hopefully your FFL will release on undetermined. It is possible the approval will still come through, so hang tight. A lot of people are dealing with delays and undetermineds

          Fret not.

The 30 days will pass quickly if you simply focus on the talking heads in the news as they discuss "what went wrong"

This happened to me a few years back and ended up leading to a denial. I had a dui around 6 years prior, during that time I had purchased maybe 15 or so firearms. Called all jurisdictions I frequent, was a pain because I have a residence in two states but no luck with either Sheriff's dept. Ended up having to get a live scan to find out some paperwork from my dui class was miss filed and when my probation ended a warrant was issued. It's somewhat concerning that the Sheriff's dept couldn't tell me I had a Warrant and I had purchased at least one handgun since the warrant was issued.

Hope your situation works out in the end

Hopefully I don't get a denial. I have had any tickets and 5 years and especially no DUI etc.
I'll update as I find out.

Similar situation here. Tried to buy an AR at turners, and was luckily given the option to get a refund after 30 days of an undetermined status. So frustrating. Way to deny people without legally denying them. Had two felony charges when I was 14 that were dropped completely. No court even. Still couldn't get my gun now that I'm 27.

Can anybody recommend any dealers that release the firearm after 30 days? I'd rather have the firearm than my refund. Don't like having my DROS fee go to waste.

What blew me away is that I don't even have any kind of record juvenile or adult. When I was 16 I got a couple tinted window tickets and maybe unlicensed driver which I took care of. That was over 10 years ago and bought two guns since. I'm thinking the fact I sold it to my buddy and now I'm buying it back trailer some kind of a flag.

Delays may have nothing to do with the buyer. I had a delay on a PPT for a pistol because the SN showed up on a theft report. It eventually got released after it was determined that the officer who took the unrelated theft report wrote a SN down wrong, and that ended up matching the SN on the pistol I was trying to purchase.

This happened before the 30 day undetermined rule, and it took more than 120 days for them to finally figure it out and release the gun. Unfortunately the DOJ moves very slow and will often just run out of time to resolve these things within the 30 days.

For this reason I will never use a FFL that will not release if undetermined.

Do FFLs have a way to communicate with DOJ other than the ****ty number we get that's nothing but automated messages?

You're worrying too much about there being a valid reason. The delays seem to happen a lot, for no reason. As others say, there's nothing to do but wait and perhaps ask your ffl about their policy on 'undetermined' after 30 days.
