Hopefully I can get my dad to take me down to Angeles again soon. I'll try to bring my girlfriend next time, I'm sure she's itching to try out the SKS, and I'd bet she'd like to try her hand at shooting past 25 yards (Darn crippled indoor ranges ).
And since I'm sure my dad will read this post, I'll put in the obligatory *hint hint*

Hey whlgun. I was the guy with the AMEETEC on Thursday afternoon. Glad to see you doing a great job on the pistol side. I actually used to work for the reloading store until a bunch of shareholder drama went down and they would of rather hired Bob, because apparently it takes a 50 year old badass to tell them what needs to be done to the store rather than Ryan and me.

Well it was a long time ago and this may be one of the incidents 50shooter was referring to. During a cease fire as a bunch of the 50 cal boys were talking and Bs'ing, the RO decided to go through my range bag and started pulling out ammo to test with her infamous magnet. It stuck like glue and we all got into a bit of a discussion. One thing led to another and next thing you know the owner (i think) was hacksawing a pulled round in half and bam we all got kicked out The ammo was talon and while it exhibited a copper jacket and a lead base inside was some steel that Angeles did not like. We did get a free pass to come back another day and the So Cal 50 shooters have made thier mark on Angeles ever since.

Watch out with XM193 on the steel plates at night. One particular RO will make you remove a round and check it, then call over a senior RO to allow you to still shoot it.

Whlgun, you might want to read this http://www.ammo-oracle.com/body.htm#m193loud . Don't worry, I know you were just looking out for your steel plates, especially since that was the last one up . I'm glad XM193 is still good to go at Angeles.

Honestly, I don't know what to think of this range, all I know is that I don't like it.

On one hand, you have:
-20 something range officers that are nothing but immature *******s on power trips. (If you violate any of the rules, the 20 something range officers will yell at you over the loudspeaker like you are a 5 year old.)
-Super strict rules about having to put on ear and eye protection before coming withing 20 feet of the shooting area.
-Nosy range employees that poke through your ammo box without asking for permission.
-Nosy range employees who will handle your firearms without permission.


On the other hand, you have the SAME arrogant, nosy, young employees telling you that its ok to build an OLL with a detachable magazine. This actually happened to me, I was talking to a range officer who was standing next to his friend and a second range officer who was shooting a detachable mag AR (not SB23 compliant). I asked him if he registered it before 2000 and they gave me a chuckle, saying that it didn't matter whether or not the magazine was fixed and it was a "technicality". According to him, the cops that shoot at Angeles don't care if people have detachable mag OLL's, so I can take off my fixed magazine when I shoot there....

Seems like they aren't very discerning when choosing their employees.

On the bright side of things, the range there IS really nice.

Take yourself somewhere else to shoot, we dont need shooters like you up at the range if you have no respect for it or the people trying to keep it safe. There are plenty of other ranges so start going to one of them.

I would love to help out anyone with questions or suggestions about Angeles. I am only one of the little fish in terms of status in the company but i can pass any suggestions on that you think will benifit the range.

Tell Eddy and the other people who lick their lips when they see fallen brass to stop going out of their way to snoop it out of reloader's hands, especially when you helped one of them reload their own stuff.

One of the biggest pet peeves I had was one of the veterans on all fours picking up Federal Match casings during a cease fire and people actually fondling their guns.

Tell Eddy and the other people who lick their lips when they see fallen brass to stop going out of their way to snoop it out of reloader's hands, especially when you helped one of them reload their own stuff.

Just let us know you reload and we will leave it alone. Unless it becomes a safety hazard, then we will snatch it up
