Sure gangbangers come up but for the most part we have a good eliment that stays safe and obey the rules. I recommend shooting on thursdays or fridays if your looking for a nice day to shoot.

      Hello Whlgun,
I'll bet we know eachother, I shoot @ Angeles at least twice a week and know most of you guys pretty well.
I love shooting up at Angeles and think all of the RO's do a great job. I've been a member there for about 15 years and this is the best group of RO's I've seen working up there in long time. They deal with mostly responsible shooters, though I have seen several dimwits who shouldn't even have a gun in their hands. I'm happy when said dimwits are dealt with, making me feel safer about being there.
Now, on to the important issue- have you guys located an M1A or S&W Model 29 for me yet ?!
      See you up there,

I for one love the Angeles Range. The benches on the rifle side are real decent, the setup for target stands is better thought out than Burro, I dunno how much time I've wasted there scavenging for rocks and crap to keep my target from blowing over. You want to talk about places with Gang Banger problems Burro Canyon makes Angeles look like a Boy Scouts Jamboree. The only downside is it's a further drive for me. Ohh and they stay open later, closing at 5PM during the summer (Burro Canyon) is downright silly. Yes, it's the weekend and I do want to sleep in some ;-) Angeles gives you an additional hour to shoot over Burro if I remember correctly.

        Regards,

        James R.

A friend and I shoot at Angeles every now and then and I enjoy the range. As someone mentioned earlier, it might not be as nice as some ranges in other areas, but I think it's one of the best in SoCal.

Whenever I hear\see people refer to Angeles, I always hear about the "range nazi's." I've been there quite a bit, and the RO's aren't as bad as people state. Yes, they may yell over the loud speaker a bit, but it's usually because someone blatantly disobyed the rules (constant rapid fire, messing with stuff on the bench during a ceasefire, etc).

I haven't had a RO just go through my bag either. They always ask before they check my ammo.

My friend and I shoot our pinned AR's there all the time (usually on Wednesday nights), and my friend was only told once that he should unpin the mag. He wasn't ordered to or forced to unpin the mag, it was only suggested. However, I still keep my mag pinned (although my friend didn't ). Though, I can see where they're coming from with these suggestions. A pinned mag that jams or doublefeeds can be a pain to unjam and can create a potential safety hazard if the shooter doesn't know what to do. If I get a jam, I just take the upper off the lower so I can pull the BCG back.

Cool, we have an Angeles employee here!
Got a quick question. A range member mentioned that while pure rapid fire wasn't allowed, double taps are fine. I dont suppose that he was somehow wrong, but are we allowed to do failure drills by any chance? I dont mind either way, I'm happy enough just being able to do double taps. Most ranges I've been to strictly state that you have to wait between shots :-/
I saw an advertisement for a range that said controlled rapid fire was ok, but I cant remember which range that was :-/

I've been to several in California and a few other states, and I've never found a better range than Angeles. Concrete benches? My god, the luxury. Steel targets starting at 200 yards on the rifle range, lots of steel targets on the handgun range, discount days, discounts for clubs, SHADE, and pretty good range officers (you want Nazis? Try reading the thread about Chabot in NorCal).

                    What's not to like?

One thing: I have to drive through LA to get there and back.

Also, the no steel bullets rule is a bitch, but what can they do?

                      Yep, Angeles is a-ok.

I WANT a range Natzi yelling at the morons with guns so I don't have to. If you want to get creative and rapid fire, Burro is not too far away and if you rent a private range there you don't have to worry about mixing it up with the gangstes and mentally challenged.

The steel bullet thingy is a CA law, IIRC and is the least of my worries.

                        Hey Whlgun,

I think I've seen you around most of the days I'm up at Angeles. I, for one, like the strict safety procedures that are adhered to at the range. Knuckleheads touching things on the bench during a cease fire make me nervous.

You came up to talk to me as I was cleaning and we BS'ed for a couple of minutes. Thanks for running a cool range.

                            Any info

I would love to help out anyone with questions or suggestions about Angeles. I am only one of the little fish in terms of status in the company but i can pass any suggestions on that you think will benifit the range.

I hope to see alot more calgunners at the range with there offlist rifles.

I refer alot of new shooters to this forum looking for info on the offlist situation and they all tell me it is the best source of info they have found online.

It's also called a Mozambique drill (I probably should have said that, I think that's the more well known term).
Basically two shots to center mass and one shot to the head. The reason I ask is because the shots are usually fired quickly (Allowing just enough time to get the sights back on target, preferably.). So basically it would be like a triple tap, I guess.
Probably a stupid question, but I figured you guys might be relaxed with the double tap rule as long as people aren't being stupid about it. Of course I doubt you guys are relaxed with any rules, which is cool. But I figured it'd be worth asking anyway

This is going to sound childish but if i allow you to triple tap then everyone will want too . But you can doubletap wait a second and then land that final shot.
