    Isn't DROS a $35 fee?
Please name the FFL that does this for $15.

        Good choice on 30.06
More money on brass but way more options for loading and you instantly go operator status

Last firearm I bought from Buds was a Heritage Rough Rider. The receipt from ffl says $25 dealer fee $25 dros. State fee Big5 charged for 783 was $25 on that receipt.

Big5 accepted Bud's gun? Wow, good to know.

The Rem 700 I got from Bud's was a wash. Could've bought local for same price.

No Bud's gun didn't go through Big5. The 783 I bought was from Big5. Had I got the 783 from Bud's it would have been about $20 more versus Big5 clearance price. Big5 regular price for 783 was about $350 before tax and dros. I think Clearance price was $296 before tax/dros, would have to dig receipt out again.

                  Remington 783 in 30-06 or 308 with a scope.
Addax Tactical has it for $403.71 using Gallery of Guns. That is otd price, including dros.

I have both but went with a cheap bolt action in 30-06 in case I ever go elk hunting.

783 doesn't have a heavy barrel, but it isn't lightweight either, definitely not a buggy whip barrel.

I picked up a Remingtonton 783 30-06 with scope a few months back for $289 when Remington still had a rebate, but I think it's over now.

These calibers are very similar for a lot of loads. The 30-06 cartridge is longer, so you can put more gun powder in there, and push a heavier bullet (like 220gr). So...If you reload, get 30-06. If not, there are many more choices in ammo available over the counter in .308.

I still don't understand why anybody would shop at Dicks.

My first gun (bought in 2012) was a Remington 700 ADL in .243. I bought rem core-lokt Ammo for it and it got a round stuck in the chamber after 6 shots. Since I was still a total noob back then I didn't know what to do to get it out. Was actually a good learning experience for me but yet major takeaway that I tell people is They couldn't make their own ammo cycle in their POS gun. Hats all I'll ever need to know about Remington.

I'm in the market for a 308 or 6.5 bolt action in the next year. I'm leaning towards either a savage or a tikka.
