Common sense and knowing the rules of shooting need to be employed.
Where in the hell is the backstop for that range?***Honesty is the Foundation of One's Character***

It only takes one idiot to ruin everyone's day. That idiot in the video did not know what's behind his target. . Come on folks, know your safe gun handling rules!SD

AgreedSorry shooter in video is a idiot . He's shooting on top of a berm or hill not knowing what or who is behind his target. Not that he is shooting far he could have easily turned his shot the other direction into the hill behind him . The guy taking the video is a distance away and the bullets are going past him . If the land is flat past where the video taker is standing who knows where these rounds are going . Sorry shoot 100% in the wrong . Ranges fault unknown if this is where they set up a target then it is their fault .
Be Sure Of Your Target And What's Beyond It
You should keep in mind how far a bullet will travel if it misses your intended target or ricochets in another directionLast edited by ontmark; 07-23-2016, 9:50 PM.Comment

I'm a member of the Twin Sisters Gun Club - it's a private shooting range and IMHO, it is one of the best places to shoot in the state. However, some idiots engaged in some questionable safety practices and that was the excuse for neighbors to start whining about the "dangers" of having a gun range as a neighbor. Never mind that the gun club has been here since 1947 and these people should have known about it before they moved here. The media couldn't wait to print a story of gun nuts shooting their "automatic" weapons.
The article has a photo of the main complainant standing heroically in his yard.

What I think I saw in the video is an unsafe situation.
How is someone downrange and can film towards the muzzle...
Was the member shooting in a prohibited area or are you missing some 14' berms?Rule 1- ALL GUNS ARE ALWAYS LOADED
Rule 2 -NEVER LET THE MUZZLE COVER ANYTHING YOU ARE NOT PREPARED TO DESTROY (including your hands and legs)
Rule 3 -KEEP YOUR FINGER OFF THE TRIGGER UNTIL YOUR SIGHTS ARE ON THE TARGET
Rule 4 -BE SURE OF YOUR TARGET AND WHAT IS BEYOND IT

No kidding. I don't care if the gun range was there for 150 years. The owner needs to run a safe outfit with a proper backstop.
Maybe if the range wasn't sending lead all over the neighbor's property, the neighbor would feel safe about having a range next door. There is no excuse for that. None.

This was the same driver that started eventually shutting down Chabot. All thought the final excuse was lead. I hear (no pun) that Los Altos gun range is getting complaints for noise also. Gee, I buy a house near a gun range only to find out there is gun fire noise. Go figure?SO they buy property next to a gun range and then bish and moan about it ??? Thats some logicComment

The range has proper backstops for each of the ranges. If you're shooting in the direction you're supposed to be shooting, you will not be shooting rounds across someone's else property.
My understanding is that some people went outside the proper range boundaries and that's why they ended up shooting into the neighbor's property.
I think the anti-gun people are looking for any excuse to shut down a range.Comment

Between the dumbasses who insist in shooting in unsafe directions, and all the knuckleheads who leave their trash all over public lands, the anti-gun people don't have to look far for excuses.Originally posted by cockedandglockedGetting called a DOJ shill has become a rite of passage around here. I've certainly been called that more than once - I've even seen Kes get called that. I haven't seen Red-O get called that yet, which is very suspicious to me, and means he's probably a DOJ shill.Comment
