    Another gun range under attack

I'm a member of the Twin Sisters Gun Club - it's a private shooting range and IMHO, it is one of the best places to shoot in the state. However, some idiots engaged in some questionable safety practices and that was the excuse for neighbors to start whining about the "dangers" of having a gun range as a neighbor. Never mind that the gun club has been here since 1947 and these people should have known about it before they moved here. The media couldn't wait to print a story of gun nuts shooting their "automatic" weapons.
The article has a photo of the main complainant standing heroically in his yard.

All I really needed to read was NRA member... he is OK with a shotgun club or a few fellas sighting in thier deer rifles, but not sport or competition shooting, those angry black rifles or pistol shooters.

    Typical NRA "sportsman"
Fear is the spare change that will keep you broke

Call him run-like-hell-when-shtf-guy or dial-911-guy but NEVER call an unarmed man "Security".

That was my thought - we can solve the noise issue by legalizing suppressors.

Common sense does not come into
the over all picture. Remember we're
            dealing with liberals.
Shades of the Chabot gun club.
            Old established, probably the oldest
club in the bay area closing down for the
            same reason.

Did you watch the video posted? I'd be a little pissed too IF people were shooting over my property line. The owner needs to set up a proper safe range, it maybe a little late now.

when I had folks shooting over my property line I simply talked with them about it and worked with them to figure out a solution. I understand this is CA we are talking about, so the idea logic and reason applying is out the door. In my youth I had a neighbor who had a "range" on his property and his kids (not really friends of mine) were out shooting and an errant shot went through our garage and hit an overhead light causing minor damage to a car parked under it. My parents did not call the cops, they went over and told the Dad what had happened and he took care of both the kids being able to shoot in our direction and the damaged light and car. He ended up changing the direction of his range and using his tractor to move a bunch of dirt to form a berm.

No need to call the cops, make a petition, or other BS.

If the same thing happened in CA there would be SWAT teams, Child Services and a fistful of lawyers involved.

The club closed off that part of the range to shooting. The owners are trying to work with the people.

One more thing people need to sign before closing escrow.
Something that list nearby businesses that have superior rights due to them being there before you.
Not to let them off the hook for negligence, though.

Its a little different between neighbors and a commercial gun range don't cha think? Going over to every new guy and asking could he adjust his fire so as not to shoot over his property would get tiresome. I've shot on my brothers property in N CA and he has neighbors about 1500' away on all sides. But he also has a 15' berm to shoot into and does call his neighbors when he is going to shoot. And theres "know your target and whats beyond" to think about. The owners need to turn it into a proper range with backstops. But it looks like the County is going to get into it and the hassle factor just might close it.

That is great. I hope their being a good neighbor keeps them open.

No I dont think so. Its a private club. With rules. Go talk with the owner of the club and request that action be taken.

                          Literally that simple.

Did you watch the video? The camerman/property owner is an idiot for being downrange filming a guy shooting in his direction.

Granted, rules and guidelines should be in place so that this type of thing doesn't happen. But jeezus christ, who in their right mind stands down range videotaping shooters?

I have friends that belong there and I know for a fact, they don't act like those depicted in the story.
