I don't need to watch a video. I have firsthand knowledge of what training they have and equipment they possess. The only thing they are not prepared to handle is a fire team of pissed off Marines. I am not disagreeing with police having explosives. I have a problem with them building IEDs. How many F'n times must I state that?

Cops have bombs?

Hopefully in the next few weeks we will learn more about this incident and if a conspiracy/others/radicalization etc. are involved.
While I do not know how the DPD decision was made, I will bet you the Incident Commander, the SWAT commander, the Psychologist and Negotiator were all involved in the decision.
I speculate the shooter indicated he had IEDs planted and possibly a suicide vest on his person. That and the break down in the negotiations to surrender, led the team to made the decision to deploy a bomb on the robot. Any other scenario would lead to other officers being placed in grave bodily harm or death.
In my thinking, he had plenty of time to rig some sort of IED/vest and said he had IEDs. So how close do you want to get to someone wearing a suicide vest?"Bruen, the Bruen opinion, I believe, discarded the intermediate scrutiny test that I also thought was not very useful; and has, instead, replaced it with a text history and tradition test." Why do you have a problem with that? It clearly came in handy. It's not like every patrol officer drives around with explosives in the car. I think it's perfectly acceptable to have a specialized team that can build them.I don't need to watch a video. I have firsthand knowledge of what training they have and equipment they possess. Yes, it is ridiculous to trained law enforcement on the scene. But not to arm chair commandos who have no idea what they're talking about.
They had already sat on the guy for several hours. What is the exact amount of time the police should wait before they have YOUR permission to go in? They have no idea how much ammo he does or doesn't have. He's still shooting and with every shot fired there is a risk of someone getting hit. The suspect claimed to have explosives himself. They could be tossed at officers and/or be enough to kill officers.
Again, just how long are the police supposed to wait before they have YOUR permission to take him out?"Kestryll I wanna lick your doughnut."

Rights can be waived. Happens every day in court rooms and police stations and roadside interviews.
The suspect WAIVED the right to a fair trial, of his own free will, when he did not follow lawful orders to give up and instead returned bullets in the direction of those attempting to arrest him. Bombs away.Comment

WTF
"Wait him out, capture him. The police have armored vehicles and a SWAT team."
"The police are too militarized, they have armored vehicles and 'pajama wearing SWAT teams.' "
"Police don't see combat"
I'm a staunch libertarian but wtf? We saw what happened to "non militarized" police. The "non militarized" normal police got shot to death in rapid succession as they fought a rifle with Kevlar and handguns. Rifles are everpresent, is the ability to confront one an offensive concept? We all know that handguns are predominantly used in crime, however this case clearly indicates that there is some need for parity.
I am amused that *anyone* can view this incident and complain about police militarization. This business will get out of control. It will get out of control and we'll be lucky to live through it.Comment

I don't see why police officers have to be armed with anything other than acceptance, love and arms wide open. At least, I get the feeling that's what some of the critics of the police would like to see...WTF

Mentiroso,
You have stated that you don't like the idea of using explosives against a human being that has killed, and is continuing to try to kill.
But, you wouldn't mind a sniper being used in this situation.
And, you have also said they could have waited him out, and he has the right to be arrested (even tho he showed no sign of giving up).
Kinda contradicting statements.
So, is it JUST that you didn't like them using explosives, or is it that you feel his (the shooters) rights were violated? Or both?
Scholars across the country are already weighing in on this, saying although it is unusual to use explosives like this, it does NOT make it wrong to do so, once the decision is made to use lethal force.Comment
