I let people shoot my guns when they ask. Why not?

When I was young, older guys would let me shoot the guns I could't afford or had never seen before other than in a book or magazine.

Now that I'm that old guy with cool and rare guns. I'm doing the same thing and spreading the joy.

No one has ever flat out asked me to let them shoot my guns. Usually, they'll show interest or ask to see it and then I'd offer to let them shoot it. Likewise, bunch of nice guys let me shoot their guns when I showed interest in their guns.

But, there's something that makes me uneasy when bunch of guys just come and ask me to shoot my gun. A bit intrusive to me.

I felt I was taken advantaged of. It's like buying a new Lexus and letting stranger a test drive, yet he offer his Hyundai Excel to you. How is that being a snob? I work hard to earn my guns and very proud of it.

If a Maserati owner wanted to drive your Lexus you'd be cool with that as long as he let you drive his Maserati in return; but Hyundai drivers can just go pound sand.

Sadly, no Maserati owner is going to let you drive his car just for letting him behind of the wheel of your dumpy Lexus.

They did offer their guns for me to shoot, but come on. I have my highy modified CZs with me also. I wasn't in the mood to shoot their cheap guns so I declined. Now looking forward, I will politely turn down request to shoot my guns if they don't have anything decent for me to shoot in return. So, what would u do if strangers ask to shoot yours?

I used to be reluctant about it. But I have been the recipient of too many other people's generosity to deny the same thing to someone in earnest.

I've never asked anyone if I could shoot their gun/rifle. And I have let people shoot mine.
If I want to try someone firearm; I'll try to very politely strike up a conversation in between rounds while the No Shoot is in affect. If they reciprocate, I'll continue the conversation until they finally ask if I want to try it out.
That's my method anyhow.

I will let anyone shoot my weapons, a few rounds or a full mag as long as they are willing to do so in front of me and under my supervision. It's not like they are going to break and if they are going to break I'd just as soon it happen now.

22 I will allow them to shoot a lot more, 10mm is getting expensive.

But still, people let me shoot their guns when I was a snot nosed kid which fostered my love for firearms. Why would I not want to pay that forward.

And of course I would respect them enough to shoot their "cheap guns" if offered. Just the experience of putting a few rounds thru something new (even cheap) is a good experience.

Only thing I would refuse to shoot is a highly custom CZ cuz I like my fingers.

I was at the local range and there was a couple there renting/shooting an AR for the first time. I let them shoot for a little while and turns started talking to them and offered for them to each shoot mine a little bit. They both loved the AR's, especially mine. They asked about mine and I gave them all the info about parts and cost. By the time they left, they were already planning their first build.

I've never turned down a request from someone that wanted to shoot one of my guns and never will. What goes around comes around!

Edit: Not a snowballs chance in hell if they are drinking!
