Exact same, no. I've got several 1911's but of different manufacture. It's nice you are thinking of your sons. Just for giggles get one really, really nice one and let them fight over it!

There is a Calgunner out there who like 1911s. Legend has it, this is 1/4 of his collection...Drool factor of 11..and I dont own a glock...

When I was i college, I worked for a General Contractor building new, custom homes.

We had a client who liked their home in Texas and had us build the exact same house here in Murietta.

The reasoning was that they could just get everything the same (appliances, furniture) so they would always know that they would like it.

I say no more than 2 of the same gun...Unless they're milsurps. At one time I had 5 Garands,4 M44US and 4 SKS.

I does not matter since it is their money and they can do as they please with it. I have had more than one of the same exact firearm but mostly C&R stuff. I have some of the same model but different chambering if that matters also. I also got 3 of the same 22rf rifles. One for my daughter when she was young and now 2 more for my granddaughter and the next grandchild.

If for pass me down or a family member, any amount is fine. But for the sake of having 2 or more of the same exact firearm just because.....i think its useless...but to each their own.

Competition firearms, at least two configured exactly the same way.

Of the EXACT same model, type, color, accessories?
                            5 is too many.
You need one for each hand, and you need a backup for each one.

Well, after buying the only known DWM Luger chambered in .45ACP to still exist, I had to buy the second one that became available nearly 3 decades later...

                              ...you know, for parts.
