No. Have you ever tried patterning your shotgun at 10 feet or so? At the kind of range most HD shootings are going to be at, you'll get around a fist to softball sized pattern with buckshot (this is actually what makes the shotgun so awesome). It's not up to chance unless you leave it up to chance.

I don't wound or kill, I stop the threat. That's my story and I'm sticking to it.

actually it's more to say that we interpret robbery and home invasion as suicide on the part of the perp. What happens is entirely on them.

Double Tap, Center Mass, 45 Hollow Points.

IF the intruder is still alive, more power to him. IF he bleeds to death before the cops and paramedics arrive.. tough break.

YES, shoot to stop the Threat, not to Kill.

Kill, no more threat, no conflicting stories.

Just shoot till threat stops. No thinking.
After there's no more threat, call 911, if you didn't have time to yet. Don't say too much...

How many of you have had to actually shoot someone?

                          Raise hands?

                          Ok, I have.

                          And it sucked.
Everything went wrong. He got the drop on me. He had a semi-autorifle.
But I was, with the grace of G*d, Yaweh, whatever, draw and fire when he was looking the other way.

Four rounds I got off, he cranked off two. I got two solid hits and two clean misses. I fired until I saw him drop the rifle. By then my body had pulled the trigger four times.

If you practice and train, muscle memory WILL TAKE OVER. I mean it. I had plenty of opportunity to train back then and my training took over, I was drawing and firing before my mind registered it. Sounds crazy but it's true. I fired until my eyes and mind registered the threat was gone.

He ran about 60 feet before he decided to lay down and give up.

                          I aimed for center mass.

I didn't think about 'kill' or 'wound' or whatever. I thought 'STOP THE THREAT'

It was only two days later that I learned that he lived.

He's in prison until 2042. He might live.

And, yes, I deal with it every freaking day.

I shoot.. rats to kill.. but yea.. shoot to stop the threat. Make sure he is a threat before you shoot him. Some bum going through your fridge and then storming out, and you putting 2 hulls of 00 buckshot in his back is not a threat.
