Wound or Kill the robber?

I'm having a lot of trouble trying to believe your questions are serious...When you had to make a choice to use your gun to defend yourself, what would you do:
1. injure the robber (hit him on stomatch, his right chest...)?
In this case, would you have to his medical bill?
2. Hit the robber in the head or his left chest (aka. heart)?
what you've got is a guilty feeling you carry rest of your life.
How many rounds being shot before you stop to check on his "condition": 1, 2, or 3?
You don't shoot to kill nor injure. You shoot STOP THE THREAT.
How the hell would anyone know who'd pay his medical bill??
If you feel guilty after using a gun to protect yourself or your family from grave physical danger or death, why have a gun in the first place??
The number of shots is based on how many it takes to stop a threat; again ,who knows.
Post your question on ar15.com, you'll definitely get some serious and knowledgable responses.

In before the lock!
.
Me, I don't want to kill anyone. I want to live in peace and harmony for the rest of my life and I want to help little children live better lives and aide my fellow citizens when they are down and out. I would only resort to harming someone when I had absolutely no other choice in order to preserve innocent life. And only then would I seek to stop their actions and I pray they don't have to die over their choice.
I feel the same way. I dont want to kill anyone but if theire threatening me and my family I will do what I have to do to save my family. And if that means me dying then thats fine too.Comment

Center mass until the threat is eliminated...simple
I've never had to shoot w/ that kind of adrenaline pumping through me, that I'd probably rely on the muscle memory I hope I've developedLast edited by CaliGunOwner; 12-13-2008, 7:41 PM.Comment

"Eliminate the threat"
Originally posted by E Pluribus UnumDuring Y2K my neighbor and I were talking and he said he had a basement full of water and canned food. He asked if I had stocked up and I said that I had. I told him I bought a 12 guage shotgun, a .308 rifle and several bricks of .22 ammo.
He is an anti-gun guy and he said. "Well, you can't eat ammunition". I replied with "When I'm starving to death with a case of ammunition, who's door do you think I am going to knock on?"Comment

I agree to this point
this is the WRONG mindset here.when you shoot at the range, at a silhoette, do u aim for the arm
Obviously there are parts of the body that are ideal for putting down a target (center mass, or if you have the time, the head). BUT the important thing is to account for what's behind your target. If you've got sheetrock and a possibly bedroom behind him, them you're going to shoot for angles that will avoid travelling into the bedroom, or at least not travel far into the bedroom.
If I have to shoot his arm or leg because I'm afraid that I'm going to waste a friendly lying in bed in the room behind him, then I'm damn well going to.
the self-defense handgun class that I took was great in that the instructor set up targets in not just standing positions, and set them up so that they were partially blocking each other. He said that when you draw, immediately start putting bullets into your target, and as you do so, move to clear either the head or the center mass. The bullets might not be going through vital organs, but they're going into him, and that's far more important than not firing and waiting for that perfect shot.
And yes, I would be firing on my target until he no longer poses a threat to me (wounded or dead, that's up to him)Comment

Never, ever, EVER "shoot to kill" or "shoot to wound."
If you are justified to use a firearm to stop a threat, it's lethal force no matter where your rounds hit the suspect; and that's what it is: reasonable force to stop a threat.
When it comes time to fire aim center of mass. If necessary, a follow-up shot to the head, in the triangle created between the eyes and nose.Comment

i guess no one watches comedy central in here because this thread is just begging for a reno 911 commercial quote!

our hd gun is a 12ga, so i dont think shot placement is as essential. as long as the barrel is facing the bad guy its up to chance what exactly the shot hits."Among the many misdeeds of the British rule in India, history will look upon the Act depriving a whole nation of arms as the blackest."

Just shoot the gun/knife out of the intruder's hand, then notch his ear with another shot and tell him he has until sundown to get out of town. Next . . .I'm only smiling at you while you talk to me because it's hilarious that you really think I give a crap about you.
As I've gotten older I thought I was gaining patience, then I realized I simply don't give a crap.Comment

The choice was made when the perp entered your home. There are 3 kinds of people in this world.
The wise, learn from the mistakes of others.
The smart, learn from their own mistakes.
The others, well......they just never learn.
