Do you remember the guy trying to sell his black G19 gen3 for $1000? IIRC, members got banned for criticizing his price.

I collect G19s too. I think I'm 4-5 variants away from finishing; not including gen1 because those are impossible.

By I collect G19s, I only care about shooters. I used to have a pile of gen 3 G19s all black before my boating accident. They are all setup the say way too except two (rmr and different sights vs normal)

If I find a pair of gen 1 G19 one is yours.....i have been looking for one of those forever as well....

Every once in a while, I see an ad written in such a rude or abrupt way that the seller essentially talked me out of buying from them.

Those are the best! Two or three paragraphs of snooty rules and conditions, where the seller is clearly expecting a stampede of buyers. When it has been bumped 8-10 times you know the seller has been served a slice of humble pie.

These are troublesome to me. These are usually so long and read like an instruction manual that I either loose interest in what's being sold or fogot why I click on the link.

Cgners aren't cheap. Many love getting bent over for 22lr and AR's during panics and overpaying for guns in impulse purchases at the shops the cool kids go to.

Look in what way I said they're not cheap. Many here got fleeced during panics, few will admit it. Many won't do their homework and comparison shop either.

If they can ask what price they want. I can offer what I want and think is fair if they don't like they can counter or not respond.

A firearm's value is whatever the market will bear. Condition, accessories (original box, papers, etc.) and a host of other variables will play into the valuation to both a buyer and seller. Unfortunately, all too many sellers seem to believe their sentimental value or assessment adds true value.

What I find interesting is how some sellers approach value. Great examples are the polymers I see that have "upgrades" (taste, such as stippling, are always in the eye of the beholder and impossible to place a value on) and have "only been shot 100 rounds" (ummm, yeah, sure) and asking price is hundreds of dollars above retail. A used gun is a used gun and your "upgrades" don't necessarily add value and trying to recover your full investment (I've even seen sales that have documented for value purposes sales tax/shipping charges on the original purchase) for a common item is completely unrealistic.

There are always exceptions for something rare and or unique, but I see too many commodity firearms that the sellers over value and when you PM with a reasonable offer (again, that's subjective and case by case) the sellers freak out.

I love hearing how much GB sales for a gun are and the seller has one "almost as good", so by logic, it should sell for almost as much. Garbage. Sellers only quote exceptional GB sales versus the average (or even the low sales) as a means of justifying their price and anything below asking is now considered "low ball". Remember the $3,000 ARs after Sandy Hook (and bare LGS shelves)? Same ARs are now 1/3 that price or less. A $2,000 offer at that time would have probably been considered "low ball", whereas today that offer would be considered quite the premium. Market conditions along with perceived (from the buyer's point) value will be key purchase points IMO.

So, stating "low ball offers will be ignored" is as useful as saying "final price drop" or "if it doesn't sell today, it's going back in the safe" (um, so where is it now, outside the safe with a for sale sign in the window?). Means nothing and a waste of text space. Again, just my .02.

I see a lot of resellers here offering low ball prices usually about 1/2 normal selling price. I tend to just ignore them or counter with a price higher than the post. Usually if I see a really low offer from someone I check their profile and if I see a lot of marketplace action I know it's a reseller and usually know to hold on for a better offer

Calgunners are the cheapest I've heard about/seen when it comes to AR's, optics, and long range rifles. That said, just because someone pays more doesn't make it a better item. That's not usually the case here, though. Sometimes it's better to pay more for

1) better customer service
2) better quality control
3) supporting a better company
4) not buying something made in china

And that's just considering equally reliable components. Then you throw in higher quality, better built components and paying more for better quality just makes sense.

Well, sometimes I think it's obvious who's wrong.

On 6/25 I made an offer of $1100 on a $1200 gun. I looked up the gun in question and made what I considered to be a very fair offer that was still over the market rate for it. The seller ignored me.

Almost four months later, he is still bumping his ad. He has dropped the price down to $1150 now. I think the market has spoken and he should realize that he's overcharging for it.

It's wrong from your perspective and I can agree with this particular instance, but the reality is, the seller has that type of discretion when he/she creates the sales thread. Right or wrong, it's still a free market.

I find most people that ask extensive questions and for additional pics aren't usually serious buyers. I guess it just makes them feel important.

There are exceptions to these examples though. One example is to look at a pic to confirm a generation of said firearm and to ask for a skew number to find out how old the model is.
