Nice setup op, here's an alternative (not trying to thread jack) I used shallow strut. I work for an electrical distributor so material was free for me (scrap pieces). I just use 4hole strut 90's and 45's with appropriate hardware 1/2" nuts and bolts for the big target stand. Cool thing is that it's modular, I can add on to it if I wanted to hang more steel, also I can break it down with just a 1/2" socket and ratchet wrench. For the little target stands I cut the bottom at an angle so I can drive it into the ground. Stands held up well even being shot at. Got a few holes through the little stands but they'll be okay for now. Just very sharp on the exit hole.

I just noticed that you had some pretty cool stencils(?) for your steel plates. Where'd you get them?

The shackles, i had already, but i do use bolts in place of them.

As for the mounting hardware, i found one on Amazon, and i straight up copied it. It angles the plate down for ricochets. I will look for the receipt when i get home and tell u guys the part numbers.

Kmai, i was initially looking for a setup like yours but didnt have access to free material. I like how there are slots to mount your chain so it doesnt move around.

As for the paint, i just google designs. My son and i paint them. He likes doing that kind of stuff and he is a big super hero fan. If anyone is around SGV, i can have him paint plates for u. When it gets shot up a lot, i just touch it up afterwards.

Attached is a plate that was just painted. On the upper right and towards the middle you can see little dimples. They are made from ZQI 7.62x51. 223 and 7.62x39 do not leave any dents on this plate.

This plate is 12" diameter, 1/2" thick, AR500 steel.

These targets from http://hangfasttargets.com have to be the easiest to hang of any system out there. It's hard to believe how complicated some of these homemade stands are and how easily they get shot up. These targets hang on a back angle and ring like a bell when hit.

I have quite a few AR500 targets already. I wonder if I can convert my current targets to be compatible to this system.

They did offer a bracket that mounted on your target at one time. I bought some to convert my targets. A better solution is to take your existing targets to a metal fabrication shop and have a square hole cut in the proper location. I had the hole cut in the shotgun video plate for $10.00 at a local fab shop. Balance is everything and the hole must be located to properly balance the target while positioning the plate to protect the hanger. I have found that a 10" target is about as small as you want to go with this system. The bigger the target the easier it mounts.

Bought a 48" from Home Depot.

Had a hard time staking it to the ground. So i pounded a screwdriver with a hammer to make a pilot hole.

It was working well until newbie me shot it. I don't know if it was ricochet or shot it straight on.

My plan is to attach a chain to it so i can mount it sideways.

The Hang Fast System feels your pain. T posts are made to drive into the ground and are very hard to damage. The Hang Fast System will protect all the hardware from damage and you will spend more time shooting and less time setting up targets, building crap and repairing it after it fails.

By the time you buy those expensive fittings and all that pipe, chain, hooks, bolts nuts .... you could have bought a Hang Fast System and T post with money left over for ammo.... then spend your time shooting instead of screwing all that crap together and trying to level it to keep the chain from sliding down the pipe to one side.

Pound the post, hang the target..... CHOOT EM !!
