Well that's one way to help! Another might be to get rid of you bad attitude having non-trainee employees. I still remain sceptical but will give you one more shot based on the respectable manner in which you owned the problem and are attempting to remedy it. +1 for Mr. Gray.

I'm pretty sure the gun inspection is normal. Every time I've gone there to shoot, the guy checking me in wanted to see my guns. Somewhere around 50 percent of the time it seems the guy doing this wants to impress me with his gun knowledge. Quite a while back one guy opened the cylinder and flipped the revolver to close the cylinder, movie style. I let him know that wasn't proper in the nicest way I could. Since then I've always asked them to hand me the gun with the cylinder open, and I'll put it back in the pouch or bag. I also had one guy drop the slide on an empty chamber (competition grade 1911). Other times my guns were treated almost as well as I would. I'd been considering a membership there since I could get over there during the day from time to time. I'll give them another try...... Employees can make or break a place, especially gun shops.

I'd like to see what the owner says, I'm not big on the help pawing my guns, especially if they are being handled occasionally as you mentioned.

UPDATE:

OK just thought that I would post a follow up to the Discount Gun Mart Rant thread... so when I called in and inquired if my special order had arrived and was greeted by Colby who very COURTEOUS and PROFESSIONAL (+1 for Colby) he asked if this was (my First and Last Name) and informed me that my Bobsled had arrived and it was in Jabie's office on his desk. I said that I wanted to THANK Jabie Gray and shake his hand for personally responding about this on the CalGuns forum.

He said if I wanted to come in tomorrow or any day during the week until around 5pm and Jabie would be in the office or if I liked I could come in and pick it up right now as it was on Mr. Gray's desk with a note for me (Range Passes personally signed + Shipping amount refunded) . I told him I would definitely come in during the day to THANK Mr. Gray but I was excited to get my order and said I would come in tonight to pick-up. Colby asked if I didnt mind holding a moment while he went to retrieve it from the office I obliged and shortly he informed me he had it in hand and it would be there waiting for me until close. I thanked him and told him I would see him soon.

Upon arriving I was helped by Reed who has always been a good guy and treated me right every time, kudos to you bro. (+1 Reed ) He made sure my order was correct, YES it was, and proceeded to confirm that I was in fact the "ENTHUSIAST" and let me know the Range Passes and Shipping $$ were from Jabie to me!

I told them I would gladly accept the Range Passes but I WOULD NOT ACCEPT THE SHIPPING AMOUNT! I then told them that this was never about money and I REFUSED to take the money and demanded that the CASH be returned to none other than Mr. Gray himself!!!

As I was leaving I saw one of my childhood friends coming into DGM with his sister to pick up her FIRST GUN EVER! (HK P2000SK) *Sweet* and I decided I would hang out just to make sure things went smoothly. I definitely noticed an overall more friendly attitude coming from the other side of the counter, I know you guys work long hours and answer a zillion questions from all the gun newbies (I used to be one) thanks for providing us a positive firearms experience in a safe, friendly and informative environment.

THANK YOU for serving our community I hope Discount Gun Mart can continue to meet and exceed the high standards of California firearms enthusiasts for many more years to come.

SoCal guns has much better staff than they used to at Convoy. The knuckle-dragging testosterone cases seem to be gone. There is hardly a tribal tatoo, soul patch or body piercing to be seen anywhere. And you can get some occasional good deals there.

Now that is a guy stepping up and taking responsibility for his business! I live in North County so I don't get down to that neck of the woods very often. But I am working on a job that takes me down there a couple times a week, as a matter of fact I drive right past DGM.

I wasn't going to stop in, due to the negative comments in this thread. But seeing the owner step up to the plate has made me rethink that decision. I will be down there again in about two weeks and will now make it a point to stop in on my lunchbreak and check the place out.

Iron sights is my "home range" and I really enjoy the place. I have always had top notch service (with one exception from an employee that no longer seems to work there). I just wish they would be a little more EBR friendly as far as sales go (they will not sell any "off list" stuff). The range portion of the business is very off list and EBR friendly, some nights it is almost all ARs and AKs, they even have a registered AR as a rental gun (first AR I ever fired).
And yes, the girls are very cute, and very nice people.

I just got back from DGM, I was picking up my Territorial Gunsmiths SLR15 OLL. They were swamped again this afternoon, however I noticed everybody being as helpful as possible. Even the people who were asking stupid questions were being treated with respect.

I don't think many more people could have been in there comfortably. It's always interesting to see how things are handled in a gun store. The young guy to your right was making me a little concerned, a pistol in his left hand and revolver in his right - fingers on both triggers. Arrrgh! A good day for DGM I'm thinking....
