Right on I will give them another go they are SAINTSI have no affiliation with SoCal, other than being a pleased customer, but I encourage you to give them another shot. I deal almost exclusively with a guy by the name of Mike and he is a 100% class act. I think the La Mesa store is closed btw, not sure tho. Also a +1 for Iron Sights but it's too much of a drive for me.
compared to DGM. Even though they are just cutting their baby teeth in the OLL scene and it shows...
EDIT: Just called SoCal for HITS and GIGGLES and asked if they had any lowers in stock and they said, "Yes, but you have to buy a Bullet Button from us as well." OK where is the PC that says that... what if I am building a featureless MMG or a U-15 set up you see what I mean guys!?!?!? FRACKING OdDbAlLs!

OK thats it I have heard a lot of +1 for Iron Sights and have yet to go I will def check em out are they Rifle and Pistol?Last edited by ENTHUSIAST; 11-13-2008, 4:10 PM.Comment

Call first if you plan on showing up after 9 though, sometimes they close 30m early if business is real slow.Primary author of gunwiki.net - 'like' it on Facebook at http://www.facebook.com/#!/pages/Gunwiki/242578512591 to see whenever new content gets added!Comment

+1 Discount Gun Mart will never recieve a dime from me so long as there are other options in a 100 mile radius.
Their misconceptions on AWB laws are so jacked up, I'm suprised they sell stripped lowers.Last edited by Sleepnosis; 11-13-2008, 4:19 PM.Comment

I liked DGM for some reasons but their CS seems to be a bit lacking. I remember them pawing thru my rangebag at my guns and ammo which I didn't like and generally wont tolerate at any range but I had another shooter with me and I think his urban/gansterish/young apperance may have caused that reaction..22short .22lr .22mag .25acp .32acp .32H&Rmag,.35rem .30carbine

+1 for Mike, great guy to deal with. Everytime I go there I try to deal with him, good sense of humor as well.I have no affiliation with SoCal, other than being a pleased customer, but I encourage you to give them another shot. I've had good experiences with DGM. Only complaint is long wait times to be helped, but that is usually only because of the many customers that love cutting in front of me.Comment

I am the owner of Discount Gun Mart and I unequivalently DO NOT condone or promote this type of customer service. I am personally calling Enthusiast to apologize for the problems and I am refunding the shipping he was charged and giving his friend range passes to make up for the shortened range time. Additionally, I am taking steps to correct both the range check in problem and the error on the order he placed. Yes, right now after the election, we are very busy, all day from open to close and we do not have enough qualified employees. We do have a lot of trainees and we are trying to turn them into qualified employees, but it takes a long time. BUT NO MATTER, this is not an excuse for poor customer service. We always strive for good customer service. However, at all times we do try to help the customers in the order that they came into the store.
If at ANY TIME a customer wishes to speak to me directly or email me about a problem, I welcome it and will do everything within my power to fix the problem. My phone number is 619-276-8730 x 104 – Jabie Gray jgray@discountgunmart.comLast edited by sureshot; 11-14-2008, 5:01 PM.Comment

Mr. Gray, thank you for correcting this issue. I have live in SD for 2 years now and I used to go to your store all the time and have spent about 7k dollars in guns that I have purchased from you but I stopped going there about 6 months ago for the lack of customer service that I received each time that I went there. Some of the employees are great but some are a PITA to deal with and it was threads like this one and personal experience that I decided to do all my gun purchases through the other stores in town. Since you have taken time to log on here and correct this problem, I will for sure start to frequent your store more often. A big thumbs up to you Sir.Originally posted by tankermanI think most folks bubba their AR's because they watch too many action movies, play too many video games and don't understand how to socialize properly, so they fantasize about being 'action hero's'. Kind of like little girls playing dress-up.Originally posted by Douglas711Is everybody stocking up on guys now? Just curious some gun prices seem to be getting high.Comment

Well, that is one way to step up to the plate and take responability for what happened. Unusual for a store these days. Good for you. I may have to swing down there and see what you have one of these days.
Now, as for the other stores/ranges mentioned:
SoCal guns has much better staff than they used to at Convoy. The knuckle-dragging testosterone cases seem to be gone. There is hardly a tribal tatoo, soul patch or body piercing to be seen anywhere. And you can get some occasional good deals there. But for the most part, their prices suck. I collect old guns, and they have some of the worst prices around for those. Like $300 for an old, battered Mosin-Nagant. Or $450+ for a sad old converted Vetterli, on it's last legs. The real prices should be closer to $50 and $100 respectively.
ASC is the range I go to at lunch. They also have a very good staff. The old guy that was as bad as a used car salesman seems to be gone. Their prices are still pretty high, but not nearly as bad as So Cal. But their service makes up for a lot. And they don't try to flog tired old garbage off as valuable antiques. I have picked up several good deals there over the years, and gotten some others that were at least worth what they were selling them for. No $750 mis-matched, ground arisakas there.
Iron Sights is the range closet to my home, and I usually go there when I am taking somebody shooting. The staff is nice. The girls behind the counter are cute. And their prices for using the range are good. Their gun prices are pretty high, as is their ammo. But since Walmart is on my way there, it isn't a problem. And you also usually have a few marines on the range shooting with you. Which is nice because you don't have to worry about them as much as some of the clowns I have seen at other ranges. And She-who-must-be-obeyed and her friends enjoy watching them shoot. I guess that is Karmic payback for the girls behind the counter...

I picked up a new Smith and Wesson 41 Magnum at DGM Saturday morning.
They were swamped. No two ways about it, the crush of people overwhelmed any chance of a quick and easy visit.
The gentleman from Sig was running back and forth showing interested individuals the latest and greatest. Including the P250, not for the great unwashed just yet, LEO only but a neat looking bit of kit. He must have sold a dozen Sigs while I was there.
Everybody was understanding and patiently waited their turn. Even the hideously unprepared first time buyers were politely and professionally dealt with. The looky-loos as well. Meanwhile the phone never quit ringing. I got out in about an hour and fifteen minutes. I knew that this was a possibility and blocked out a couple of hours of my morning just in case.
This was not a situation that could have been fixed by the store. You can't just call down to Home Depot and ask if any of those guys out front would like to put in a shift selling guns.
When the wave hits you just have to keep on swimming and hope for the best.
I have had good and bad experiences there over the years , going all the way back to the store in PB. I'll still stop by when I've got the too much money/not enough guns syndrome.
I appreciate Jabie checking in and taking care of business.
I'll stop by and shake your hand some day. It's not PTSD, it's nostalgia.Comment

Wow, DGM really got beaten up in this thread. My experience there has been positive. They are 100% behind the OLL MOVEMENT and I have purchased quite a bit of stuff through them. I usually stick with Colby or Patrick, as they are great, knowledgable and on top of things. When I order parts or whatever, they have always arrived in approximately the time they said they would. They are VERY busy on the weekends and it has taken me up to 30 minutes to work my way to the counter, so I now try to go there during the week. Sometimes you can't always get the best employees, because they are dealing with their own customers and also the problems from the customers of the not-so-great employees. I'm also glad to see Mr. Gray step up and rectify the situation. This shows a company that cares about its customers. I look forward to continuing my patronage of their business........(and sticking to Colby and Patrick).

I have to give my .02 cents in. When I did my PPt there with enthusiest, I arrived there a little earlier. I told them I was doing a ppt. They looked at me like (dude you will be helped when I am finishing warming up the floor) I politely asked if I can start the paper work to experdite the time. They wouldn't even want to help start that. I looked around and saw 2 or 3 guys behind the counter just bSing. When I do ppt with other ffls, While I am waiting the ffl would ask if I wanted to start with the paper work while they finish off with the current customer. I just didn't not get the right customer support from them. I have to admit, the people that work there must have worked for walmart because that is exactly how they treat customers. (Like they never finished high school) Off rant. By the way enthusiast, thanks for the awesome rifle.Comment

Now thats the way to treat a customer! Taking responsibility for issues and taking corrective measures. On the short list of customer friendly Gun Shops! THANK YOU Sir,
Mr. Gray I really appreciate you taking the time to personally respond to this matter. I have been a long time customer and have been a member of Discount Gun Mart for 2 consecutive years now. The main reason I posted this was not to bash DGM as I very much appreciate our precious Firearms dealers here in CA and try to show my gratitude and support for the products/services they provide.I am the owner of Discount Gun Mart and I unequivalently DO NOT condone or promote this type of customer service. However, this was not an isolated incident or me just looking to vent due to an employee having a bad day, but rather something that I felt needed to be said because of the overall attitude of the staff toward the customers at DGM.
I never had any idea that you would be reading this rant and actually post a reply!
Also, thank you for being such a stand up guy about taking care of the shipping and the range passes. Despite the bad experience I took my same friend back the following day... out of courtesy I will speak to you directly as to the out come of that visit...
But then I come home today from Iron Sights
and I see missed calls from Discount Gun Mart in my caller ID and YES I got the message that you called me.
As was stated in his post Mr. Gray personally called me to make this right +1,000,000 for Discount Gun Mart.
This simple gesture shows integrity and commitment towards your customers and after an experience that made me very critical of Discount Gun Mart FREE shipping and range passes are nice, but to me $$$ isnt everything as there are times I have gladly paid more simply because I believe in the people/place selling the product...
Sometimes a little kindness goes along way THANK YOU VERY MUCH Sir.
Discount Gun Mart Member,
-enthusiast
P.S. +1 for Patrick he is the most AWESOME guy ever, seriously GOLD cherish him, if only he worked everyday!
