Why used for new prices???

I swear some guys must list a crazy high asking price so they can swear to their wives they are "trying" to sell off some guns.
Me? I will look at recent similar listings, gunbroker prices, and availability of the gun. Offering 25% less than a reasonable used price will get you ignored or maybe a similarly sarcastic response.
Too many kids think Pawn Stars is an instructional show.

Because people don't understand that dros and tax are costs you eat, not things that add value to the gun. That, and they're clueless of the concept of depreciation.

Plus with dros and tax new, you're looking at 560-70 new... So people think 10 dollars cheaper than that is a good "deal."

Personally, I'd rather pay the extra 10-20 bucks.

In free states where you don't ask .gov permission to do a private sale, gently used guns often sell for near new prices. Some like their guns like BHO likes his voters, undocumented.

I think it is because the wife found out that you had to many guns and told you to sell one . so you put it up for sale at a large price so it wont sell . and you can tell the wife that you tried to sell it but got no takers

I always buy new unless it's a killer deal, like 1/2 price.

No tax and no limit on 1 in 30 days all add to increased costs on used guns in this state.

So basically your are paying to not give the government more of your money and also for the convenience of not being inconvenienced when you see a new handgun you have to jump on but still have to wait 20 days to legally buy.

New gun prices are very easy to find through the internet so I don't know why the used guns are more then a new gun. Off roster? I look to see if there are night sights or a bunch of mags or ammo with it and sometimes the math works out to be a good deal. If the price is way too high I move on and if its close I may send a pm...but no drama. It is funny how buyers want your lowest price...then offer $50 less then what your lowest price is lol

Ill probably get yelled at or a rash of hate mail for this but why the hell are people selling used guns that are readily or easily avalable to obtain new for the price of or mor than new guns. Now there are good sales on cal guns and I would say most are reasonable but there are so many people asking outrageous prices and get offended if you offer say 400 on a glock 26 whin there asking 550 used. There are 3 shops here that have it for 490 and 500. Am I in the wrong at least asking that price. I'm just gonna buy new.

No Tax(so add 10% to the ad price of a new gun to get the "real" price)
Hard to find new(see the CZSP01, on roster but good luck finding one in a store)

maybe they think the gun is a boat. There was a boat for sale for 3 years next to my boat, it was way overpriced and just sat there for sale while the owner sailed it every weekend. Turns out he was forced to sell it as part of a divorce settlement, so he listed it as at a high price and kept enjoying the boat but that way he could tell the judge (or whoever) that it was for sale and she would get her half as soon as it sold. At about the 3 year mark the judge got smart and the boat was sold in a month. Maybe they really don't want to sell their guns but told their wives/gf's they were going to sell them.

The other option is there are too many CHEAP people here, I was looking at a rifle that the guy claimed had less than 10 rounds put through it and I have to admit it looked it. He had the yahoo's to tell me his price was firm because it was $3.00 less than a new rifle after you included tax, so he was saving me $3 and would not take any offer...I bought a new one. But there are people here who would have taken him up on his offer to save $3, so why shouldn't the seller try to get the max ?

I generally agree with you, and I imagine many guns in the marketplace do not sell.

Well priced guns normally sell in 48 hours. I've never had anyone say anthing negative to me when offered less. I did have one guy upset when I corrected he model of gun he was selling.

Yep, extras....soft case, snap-caps, holster, books, ammo.

When I sold a gun it included a test drive of 50 rds at the local range/FFL.

Speaking of the seller's attitudes...
I was on the market to buy a bike a few winters ago. The guy was listing his bike with 1K+ miles a tad over MSRP. Why? 'cause, in his view, he did me a favor breaking it in for me.
Go figure...
