COPS CALLED ON ME FOR OC!

check out iriver's mp3 players - there are a few of them that record audio to MP3, I have a gen1 Clix and the mic picks up very well. Small to carry and easy to use. I am sure there are other manufacturers with this feature as well.If it was a snake, it would have bit me.

Glad to hear everything went smoothly...

Most likely the Rent A Cop's weren't X-USMC. They'll probably just saying that to intimidate you or something like they've been trained to kill or their hands are legally registered weapons....LOL"Screw U guys, I'm going home"...:the great Eric Cartman

They gave plausible answers to that effect. Head guy said Artillery and lackey said Radio Operator. I asked head guy what his favorite artillery piece was and he gave off a very specific name (can't remember what it was.)Comment

He was probably talking about the artillery in his pants!

Maybe he got the specific name from discovery/military weapons channel. He's probably just a wannabe X-usmc. You should of asked him what division/where trained and where stationed along with the types of gear he was issued (based on his mil-status at the time). I bet ya he'll probably stop for a moment to think about it and tell you a few things that don't belong in the mix."Screw U guys, I'm going home"...:the great Eric Cartman

There are real legal issues over which we can criticize the guards if that is what we wish to do. This "He's probably just a wannabe X-usmc" talk has no place in a rational discussion of the events.Maybe he got the specific name from discovery/military weapons channel. We are engaged in activism for and education about an activity which is still foreign to most. PnS25 did great and was a fine ambassador for OC. Lets not sully his mostly positive experience (he did walk away with this sidearm after all) with unfounded denigration of the others involved.
I think they were wrong to detain him. They were confused over the issue of exposed carry and just didn't know what to do. Cops and security sometimes feel that they MUST act so as to do something, anything out of fear of non-action. We are also taught that we are there to protect the public which, except in certain specific rare events where we are present at the time and point of attack, is impossible except after the crime is committed and we have been called.
The hardest thing for rookies (and veterans) to learn is that many times doing nothing or at most just observing is the prudent course of action.Last edited by Liberty1; 11-04-2008, 5:47 PM.False is the idea of utility that sacrifices a thousand real advantages for one imaginary or trifling inconvenience; that would take fire from men because it burns, and water because one may drown in it; that has no remedy for evils except destruction. The laws that forbid the carrying of arms are laws of such a nature. They disarm only those who are neither inclined nor determined to commit crimes.

Well said Liberty1.There are real legal issues over which we can criticize the guards if that is what we wish to do. This "He's probably just a wannabe X-usmc" talk has no place in a rational discussion of the events.

My question now is what should I do? At the very least I would like to see the mall code and see if there is anything enforceable in there concerning weapons, in particular firearms. I would also like to see the policy of the security company in regards to what occurred.
While a positive experience overall and a humorous one at that, some of these things just don't add up.

WHAT???? sue??? that would be the worst thing pullnshoot could do at this time.too bad you cannot sue for this unlawful detainment
time is money and you shoudl be compensated
The #1 argument I have heard for open carrying is to educate. pullnshoot's encounter (I think anyway) illustrates that argument in action perfectly.
Why turn a positive 20 - 30 minutes into something negative?
If you are going to open carry, you need to accept this kind of encounter is going to happen. IF you are able to achieve a successful encounter like pullenshoot did, the way to look at this is not "sue time" or "I have been horribly wronged". Rather "hey I just donated 20 - 30 minutes to furthering the cause of restoring the right of self defense. There are now X more cops/security who learned something new today."
Suing and formal complaints in this case would be counterproductive and risk undoing everything pullnshoot accomplished.Comment

Glad it all went well and the cops did the right thing as opposed to trying to arrest you or taking your gunOriginally posted by TRAP55Or your ammo stash has replaced your wifes parking spot in the garage.
When my neighbor asked what all those crates were, I told him if he sees smoke coming from my garage, and me running down the street......he better catch up!
