Really? You must be bombarded with school zones. I'm always paranoid about that.

I'm in Mira Mesa, soon (hopefully) moving to PQ, RB, or Poway area. I'm surrounded by school zones and I don't think that will change if I move to those areas either.

I just bought a GPS system and it's pre-programmed with all the schools. It showed the list of schools around me, and there's basically a school every tenth of a mile from me.
I really despise this 1000' law.

What power if any do mall security guards have? Can they legally detain you or ask you not to move if a crime is not being committed?

I know that the things would have escalated and this would have been all over CNN if the op had not listen to the Security guards and decided to walk away.
