I actually might go that way if I can come up with the funds, but I want a wood stock so that would only add to the cost

I really liked the Wingmaster, but I haven't found a 12 gauge one and they are not in my price range. I am hoping to find a used one at about 400.

You can always sell the 18.5" barrel if you're not going to use it (for either). Sorry, just realized in your original post that you had no intentions of using it for HD.

I haven't checked in a while but pawn shops always used to have a good selection of used shotguns. You might want to research local shops that sell firearms ? I would have no problem buying a used one in good shape. Probably find a good deal but I am always trying to save a buck.

to me shotguns are like ar15's u can do so much with it. specially with the 870 and 500/590. so much after market support. but i noticed that the more beat up and filled with powder residue the slicker the action.i havent cleaned the action of my 500 for almost 2 years , after i shoot i just clean the barrel so it dosent get rust pits, and spray rem oil on the bolt and carrier.

If it can be converted to one I would be fine if there is a significant difference in the quality. Tactical is on special at my big 5 for same as regular 870

Everyone talk about this stock. So I bought one.

No clue how you people shoot with it unless your midgets or under 5 foot. I'm average build, 5'10, normal length arms and my hand punches my nose. Tried several different grips. If it was 13" it would be better. Stock buttstock is going on asap

There are techniques to shoot short(er) LOP shotgun stocks. The best would be to attend a class with a good instructor to learn it correctly, yet for reference here is a short video for some starter ideas.
