    Semi-auto 20 gauge?

You must really hate those dwarf puffers.

But seriously, 19" is legal in CA and since all Saiga shotguns are based on the same action, they should all be fairly similar in weight (except for the weight of ammo).

If you want semi-auto and light weight, look for one of the older 20 gauge Remington 1100s. Newer models use the same size action as the 12 gauge.

Another thing, if you get a saiga get an AK pistol grip conversion. With the sporter stock the whole action is farther away making it harder to hold up and swing.

Maybe a bullpup like a KSG would be easiest for you to handle but that's a pump, not semi.

I wouldn't suggest a .410 if you want to shoot clays and you had trouble with a 12 gauge. It could be very frustrating. 20 gauge holds a lot more pellets and will give you a better chance.

Saiga shotguns are not very light weight, though definitely awesome.

There are 10 round drum magazines available for the Saiga 12 (the "round magazine" you asked about). In other states you can get 12 or 20 round drum mags, but only here if you are LEO generally.

My Saiga 12 is the long barrel version, and is very front heavy, even with the pistol grip conversion. I have no problem shooting it, but I am nearly 200LB. All female shooters that have tried my Saiga 12 have been unable to properly shoulder it due to weight.

but yours is heavier, right? do u think female shooters are able to hold and swing the saiga 12 easily and to break clays? haha

If your primary purpose for the shotgun is to shoot clays, I don't think a Saiga is what you are looking for.

The Remington 1100 Youth sounds like it would suit you. It's a 20GA with a 21" barrel, 13" length of pull, and only weighs 6.5 lbs. I don't see it on Remington's website, but here it is N/A at buds: http://www.budsgunshop.com/catalog/p...RC+Youth+Black

Smurfette, try handling a 26" Winchester sx3, they are very light and agile. I have two of them i use to bust clays, and every time i go, my buddies want to use my sx3's than their own. They also have them in 20 gauge, and I agree with some, .410 is going to be harder to break clays, so I'd say go in the middle and find something with 20 like you originally thought.

The bad thing about saigas is that because they are semi-auto and magazine fed you have to have a magazine lock.

Most places that have trap shooting limit you to having two shells in the gun and that is a big pain when you have to deal with a bullet button.

A double barrel, pump or tube fed semi-auto are much more convenient in that situation.

What a saiga is good for is magazine dumps at milk jugs and other fun targets.

In a free state where you don't need a mag lock, they are lots more fun and when you can SBS them it's even better.

One thing to think about before you buy, how available are magazines?

20 gauge is not as popular as 12 so mags might be hard to come by.

Having a gun with one small magazine sucks.

12g isnt *that* much more recoil. And if your shooting cheap birdshot either way, very manageable.

Now, bring on the issue that Saigas usually have issues with birdshot unless you do some work on them. For your purpose I would look another direction.

My Saiga 12 is fine with bird shot. I did a little slide racking and went over the gas system to make sure everything is ok.

After a few initial hiccups it cycles cheapo bird shot and buck shot both on the less gas setting.

                                I guess I got lucky.

Some people have to change the gas piston, polish the bolt and get a new gas plug before they cycle cheap ammo 100%. If you get a bad Saiga it might not even have the gas ports properly drilled (but that seemed to be more common a few years ago).
