    Dumb Newbie Q: Cheap birdshot?

I'm signed up for bjl333's skeet class at the end of October. I need to buy about 200-250 shells worth of birdshot (#7.5 or #8) for my wife and I.

Having great ammo isn't the issue, since I doubt we'll hit all that much the first day out anyway. Cheap ammo, however, would be a good thing.

So, what brand should I buy, and where should I buy it? I guess I have enough time to mail order, so a website would be fine.

    Thanks!

Yes, you CAN fit a case of shotgun shells into a .50cal ammo can.

I think i found an optimal solution for ammo can labeling.

I made this target for the NRA's Marksman pistol test. I think it's a lot better than the paper plate they suggest.

You don't have to mail order, some Walmarts carry the #7.5 shot. They sell them for $22 dollars for 100. So its roughly $66 +tax for 300 rounds of Federal birdshot which is my recommendation. The Winchester value packs have a reputation for getting stuck in your chambers. If you must order online, check out sgammo.com they have 250 rounds of Noblesport #7.5 for $60 dollars + shipping
Bounce a ball in Football that's a fumble. Baseball, no bouncing at all. Bounce a ball in Hockey, well that's a mandatory drug test right there...

The Wally World 4 pack is good. They are around 23-24 bucks per hundred. Any brand they have is fine. I would recommand to get the #8 shot, but #7 1/2 is ok also.

Wally Mart, Federal bulk packs come 100 rounds in a box for about 20-25 bucks. Pretty much the cheapest around without going mail order

Walmarts that I usually get my cheap ammo are in:

          Duarte
          West Covina
          Simi Valley

I know the Walmarts in Van Nuys/Panorama City, Northridge/Canoga Park, and Rosemead/El monte do not have ammo

walmart has the single boxes of 25 shells for under $5 (I think they were $4.86) for the federal game load in #8 shot or sometimes 7 1/2 if you can find them. I buy several cases and is cheaper then any other place I have found and cheaper then the value packs.

The Breast Cancer Awareness Shells are especially cheap right now at Cabela's.

I have been buying them when Cabela's has free shipping lately. They are good and cheaper than anything at Wally World when you factor in tax. Right now they are cheaper even factoring tax and shipping.

Don't worry, Coach won't laugh at you. He has already laughed at me so you are in the clear. They are almost normal to him now.

And when it comes right down to it, who doesn't want to support breasts?

Agreed! I've been using those for practice and it usually manages to get a chuckle from the guys at the range Cheap, reliable/reputable brand and supports a good cause. What's not to like?

Haha yeah, I showed up to the range with those 4 months or so ago. Didn't get to use them because I changed to a 20 gauge, though. Got them at Turners.

I have found that burning is the only acceptable solution to get the stench off the clothes. It does however ruin the clothes in most cases.

You get somewhat use to it when you start to enjoy the prices.

That's what I bought the federal 100 pack from Walmart. Didn't know winchester one was bad. I was debating it

ive never had an issue with any of the winchester or federal bulk 12g or 20g from walmart in pump guns.. i have had issues with the 20g in a remington 1100 but even then it was one round out of 250... the bottom tore/blew off when fired/extracted..
Boy the way Glen Miller played, songs that made the hit parade, guys like us we had it made, those were the days, and you know where you were then, girls were girls and men were men, mister we could use a man like Herbert Hoover again, didn't need no welfare states everybody pulled his weight, gee our old Lasalle ran great, those were the days!

                            who wants a fishtank?
