LEO's are begining to want tight chokes due to many are in urban areas and they of course are responsible for every one of those buck shots. Keeping a tight pattern assures they end up in the threat. Also, those that shoot slugs like DEA want the modified, infact, every weapon I have built for a DEA Agent but one left my shop with the 18.5" fixed modified choke Police barrel.

Do you have any side by side pattern comparisons? I've heard this a number of times, but I haven't been able to get an objective comparison. The best I've been able to find was BOT testing at 10 yards that showed no difference.

I have a full pack in my car. The point of this shoot was to make myself comfortable with slugs and various buckshot loads. It is fine to do most practice with target ammo, but if I am using buck shot for HD I also want to be comfortable with the added recoil. I shot the slugs partly for fun and partly to minimize the kick of the buck.

Nice to know for an extreme survival situation, but they can be risky.

I went to Burrow earlier this week. They are holding drivers licenses for use of the private ranges now even for members. As we pulled away one of the range workers zoomed over in his gas cart to check it out. Had to disturb a web-surfing session in the range office to get my id back. Those pesky customers...

Go to walmart before, pick up the 100 value pack $21 of buckshot..They sell the winchester super x slugs for around 4$ for 5
They sell clays there too...a lot cheaper then the 16-18$ they charge at burrow.
If you have a partner you can rent the skeet machine for 20$ all day

Are you talking about the Federal birdshots for $21? I don't think you can buy a pack of 100 buckshots for $21 anywhere

I took 150 rnds of shotgun shells out to calico and still didn`t have enough. Glad I had several other guns to shoot.

another incident of a shooter that decided to be a douche and sneak in prohibited ammunition (be it tracer or magnetic ammo) to shoot b/c they don't believe that they will light dry brush on fire.

Fixed v. Screw-in chokes

Fixed chokes barrels are a different animal from those barrels with screw in chokes. Please consult your owners manual for slug shooting with guns that have screw-in chokes. If you don't have a manual, go online and download or request a manual for your gun.

I'm sure you are talking about last friday the 3rd i believe.

Me and a friend from norcal were at the range that day.
Went with some local socal friends aswell and rented a private lane all day then when that fire started they had us stop and it was about a good 1 to 1/2 hrs of downtime we had to sit through........ya it sucked but still had a good time there cause i don't know of any ranges in norcal like this one.

I always understood steel core and steel target ban but I thought the bi-metal jacket ban was a bit much until I went to one of the night shoots and saw all the sparks that even a bi-metal jacketed bullet can throw off when it hits a rock.

Oh, and to the OP: bring potatoes!
