I have a semi auto winchester sx3 and a pump 1300 defender. I have never had problems with either. I have over 1000 rounds of cheap walmart birdshot, 3" slugs, 00 buck and 2.75" slugs through the sx3 and would trust my life on its reliability. Pick the gun your most comfortable with and can afford. The best money you can spend is to practice practice practice. If your hoping the sound of the racking of a pump will scare someone your to late, you should already have it loaded. Goodluck and i hope you never have to use it to defend your home.
