    completed my saiga 12 conversion

i go my kit from carolinia shooting supply, i ordered in thurs afternooon and had it sat by noon. i complete my saiga 12 ga conversion took about 5 hours with everything and figuring out how to make the bb work. you will have to put a notch in the rear so the bolt will pass threw. it is just pressure fitted in there but it will not move at all. i used the screw that held the bb in place and it worked just fine. the one in the kit was to short with the bb installed. i would not recomend the retaining plate. it was a b@#$@ ti get in and i think the next one i do i will just use cotter pins. also the bolt hold open was the other part that was a pain. but in the end it was worth it and it looks great and feels great cant wait to take it out now.

here was the problem i ran into

here i fixed the problem by cutting the braket at an angle in the front

              range report

ok so ran into a few problems at the range. first off still had problems with the pro mag.

here is what it look like when it was a ftf it would not come up all the way to the chamber

there is what the mag looked like

here is what it should look like

here is the other problem i was having notice how far the trigger is back it is stuck in the pulled position.

after taking it apart while it was stuck i found that the hammer spring was slidding into the slot next to it due to it being bent a little will be getting a new spring here soon

i use the federal bulk pack most of the time. i did bring some slugs just in case it needed some breaking in. also everything cycles on 1 so i have not changed it from 1

hey karl with the gun facing forward is it the spring on the right side?
if so this is a real common occurence and is an easy fix. bend the spring towards the reciver or bolt hold open.

if you go to carolina shooters supply and look under vids and links half way thru the page they got a video how to bend it. they do it to an aftermarket spring but its the same basic thing.

the guys at saiga12 forums tought me this trick and it worked for me...

Add an AK rubber pad to your stock to save your own shoulder.

                    Have fun !!

I might be mistaken, but does doing a pistol grip conversion trigger 922r? If so, I'd be wary of using the Russian made mags because you might need the 3 parts of the mag.

what i have in legal with the 922r. when i replaced the fire control group makes 3 parts and the stock is made by tapco so that is 1 part so there is 10 or less non usa parts. the grip is also a tapco so it did not add to the parts count.

i will look into the video you are talking about and yes it is on the bolt hold open side. i just noticed that mine was bent in.

i will have to be getting a recoil pad. i brused un my hole sholder with 100 bird shot. that metal plate is not nice.

                        thanks for your help
