    is any of this true?

The general consensus is that FB is the suck and hates gunowners almost as much as guns. Yet we still have gunowners on FB. Heck, Calguns has a FB page.

        Why?

Back in the day, after the earth cooled and the dinosaurs came, shotshells were paper instead of plastic. They would absorb moisture if not stored properly and swell. Sometimes to the point of bursting. I'm sure this happened in mag tubes but it had nothing to do with the mag tubes or springs.

For any 870 I use: magazine tube loaded (5), chamber empty, hammer cocked, safety on.
I don't want the action to move unless I unlock it first.
Loaded with Hornady TAP, two slugs in positions one and two in the side saddle for a select slug maneuver if needed.

My 870 is left with one on the lifter (bolt open, safety off) muzzle down. If I grab the stock (pistol grip) and reach for the forearm, the forearm readily slides forward and chambers the round.

I don't have kids and the few visitors don't go in the gun room.

              And what's a Facebook?

Gee my two Remington 870 express 12 gauge shotguns only hold four shells in the stock magazine tube with the chamber empty.

Where can I find one that holds 5 shells in the stock magazine tube - such as the one you posted about?

In being around shotguns for 45 or so years, I have never seen a shotgun shell get 'smooshed' from being stored in a magazine tube under pressure from the follower spring!

Cannot have bolt back in semi or pump with rounds in mag. Everytime you cycle shotgun by retracting bolt it with present another cartridge for chambering. You unload shotgun with closed action pull the trigger on empty chamber and leaving action closed then load the mag. You are now ready to pickup shotgun and chamber a round without hitting bolt release. Practice with unloaded shotgun.

Probably wasn't talking stock magazine, or maybe he has a "Police" version. I am looking at adding one of these. +1 tube extender.

The "riot" versions have additional magazine capacity. Mag tube extensions are also available.

                            870 Marine Magnum Police.
The stock tube holds six; I keep room enough to add a slug to position 1 in the tube for a select slug scenario.
You can easily find 870 magazine extensions with a number of on-line retailers that will work with your Express, provided the factory did not use a "limiter" dimple in the tube.
