you can keep a gun loaded and stored but keep in mind in Ca we have earthquakes do you want to risk it going off? also if you want something for security reasons just hide some shells in plain sight.

You can and should always leave your home defense shotgun loaded.

I can see that happening to the old paper shotgun shells, but only after an extended period of years in a humid climate, where the paper shells absorb moisture. I suppose it could also happen after a period of years with plastic shotgun shells, but I think that is unlikely because I have never heard of this ever happening.

Leaving a shotgun tube loaded for an extended period (meaning year) of time the most likely problem will be a compressed magazine spring.

Shotguns arent drop safe, so cruiser ready condition. Plus, “the sound of it racking will scare the bad guy off”

Although I agree that was the historical stigma, it seems as though modern shotguns are somewhat considered drop safe.

Have not tested myself and never plan to. And I'm a cruiser ready guy as I said, but just adding that tid bit to the mix...

I don’t keep one chambered. My dog is a maniac and leaps around the house with reckless abandon. The gun is always loaded though.

Yeah, Earthquake will set off our nukes before it will set off my shotgun so I got that going for me.

It's a pump, so pump forward, or action closed. Loaded means the mag is full. Chamber empty, and decocked so it can be charged easily. Safety off.
